Therefore, effective measures should be taken to diminish the deleterious effects of these complications on maternal health. In this study, we aimed to determine the efficacy of postpartum home care on the rate of constipation and hemorrhoids. METHODS: This clinical trial was conducted in two phases on 276 women, who gave birth at hospitals, affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran, Iran in 2013. The subjects were divided into intervention (n=92) and control (n=184) groups. First, a model of care was designed by comparative analysis and collection of data on home care guidelines for mothers and newborns, applied in different countries. In the second stage, women received home care services, based on the proposed model (on days 3-5 and 13-15 postpartum). On the other hand, subjects in the control group did not receive any services. The rates of constipation and hemorrhoi...

The cut-off point for depression was considered to be a score of>10. We randomly assigned 54 eligible mothers (n=27 per group) with mild and moderate de-pression to the intervention and control groups. In both groups, mothers received routine postpartum care. The intervention group additionally received telephone support from health volunteers. A questionnaire was used to gather demographic and obstetric infor-mation. Not all zygotes, which are the result of spermatozoid and ovum fertilization, will reach implantation stages and too many pregnancies terminate inevitably because of fetal or maternal causes. The data on maternal mortality rate and complications which unwanted pregnancies face and the number of attempts for induced abortions is considerable. Although, at the first glance, it seems that abortion is a medical issue, but diverse fields have their statements according to their approaches. These statements are often expertised, judgmental and incisive but most of them are theoretical discussions and cover different beneficiaries and the mothers’ decisions, rights and health for the continuation or termination of pregnancy may be of the least concern. It may convert to more invasive forms of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN), endangering women’s health by more severe complications. Most GTN cases originate from HM, which is associated with uterine bleeding, preeclampsia and thyroid problems. Its etiology has not been adequately explored, but some risk factors have been reported. The aim of the present study was to assess any relationships between molar pregnancy and factors including mothers’ and husbands’ occupations. Methods: In this case control study, seventy complete molar pregnancies (cases) were compared with 200 normal pregnancies (controls) in 5 educational hospitals affiliated to medical universities in Tehran, Iran. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test and logistic regression modeling. Results: There was no significant relationship between the risk of molar ...

In the analysis, cases were 30 women with complete mole and controls were 30 matched women with term pregnancies. The husband's of cases were more likely to have occupations involving physical work than non-physical work and this physical work more usually involved exposure to soil and dust. Among all occupations, the husband's of cases were more likely to have occupations which had exposure to soil and dust (P < 0.01). Comparing all occupations that had exposure to soil and dust with all those who did not have this exposure (physical and non-physical) resulted in a statistically significant difference in the occurrence of molar pregnancy (P < 0.001).

[4] Most mothers have inadequate knowledge about the postpartum care and complications. [5] For this reason, first-time mothers are often not well prepared for this task and require the support of the family, friends, and health personnel. [6] Provision of postpartum care is the most important measure to prevent unwanted consequences. Thus, performance of health personnel and providing social support for the mothers play important roles in preparing them to cope with the new situation. [7] Postpartum home visit is a suitable method to obviate the educational and supportive needs of mothers because it is often difficult for them to go somewhere during the 1 st day after delivery and it would be best if they could be provided with care services at the Background: Postpartum home care plays an important role in prevention of postpartum complications. Regular visits of mothers during this period are imperative. This study aimed to provide postpartum home care for mothers to assess its effects on mothers' health in Iran. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out in two phases. First, a comprehensive postpartum home care program was compiled by performing a comparative study, using the available guidelines in this regard in different countries and based on the opinions of the experts. Next, a clinical trial was carried out on 276 women who gave birth in the university hospitals affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. There were 92 mothers in the intervention and 184 in the control group. The intervention group mothers were provided with postpartum home care service while the control group did not receive such a service. Results: Outcome assessment at 60 days' postpartum revealed a significant difference between the two groups in terms of the use of supplements, birth control methods, postpartum depression, breastfeeding problems, constipation, and fatigue (P < 0.05). No significant differences were noted between the two groups with regard to hospitalization, hemorrhoids, backache and lumbar pain (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The postpartum home care program had a positive effect on some aspects of the mothers' health status and their satisfaction in our society.

Recent literature indicates that the maternal mortality rate in Iran is 23 per 100,000 live birth. For every death, 20 to 30 mothers suffer from chronic and acute illnesses arising from pregnancy and delivery; therefore, using a valid and reliable indicator will help researchers assess maternal health more precisely. In this longitudinal study, attempt has been made to compare mothers’ health status by using a subjective tool for evaluating the Physical-Maternal Health Index (P-MHI). The most common complaints made by mothers were headache, back pain, mastitis, nipple fissure, breast abscess, abdominal pain, pain in genitalia, constipation, hemorrhoids, anal fissure, urinary problems/Incontinence, fatigue, and dizziness/vertigo. The P-MHI is defined on the basis of these complaints scaling 0-100. The higher the index, the better the health status of mothers. It was ...
