It then closely analyses the India- Pakistan relation through the lens of nuclear deterrence and all the crisis situation and conflicts in the post nuclear era of India Pakistan relation is studied to understand how the possession of nuclear power by both the neighbours prevented a major conventional war. Then the paper analyses how far nuclear deterrence has been successful in restoring stability among the neighbouring states through the stability/instability paradox which to some extend was failed to achieve . The pattern suggest that the acquisition of nuclear power and employment of nuclear deterrence gave a chance for Pakistan to engage in lower level conflicts with India which are short of high intensity conventional war that might include nuclear escalation. The paper also suggests various limitations to the practical application of nuclear deterrence theory and suggest that the question of irrationality and deterrence as the spread of nuclear weapons might not result in a nuclear war or a conventional war, but that does not mean that it will not cause suffering and bloodshed.

As the second largest consumer market in the world, the Indian economy has been enjoying high economic growth in athe post liberalization and era of globalisation. But this economic growth did not create much opportunities, in the manufacturing or service jobs, for the illiterate rural population. For this purpose,it looks at various developmental indicators such as poverty rate, literacy and education, health indicators etc across various states and also compares its rate in rural and urban india. And it is clearly evident that regional disparities between rural and urban areas is still prevalent in the fastest growing economy in the world. This situation asks for a change in our developmental goals and brings in the need of Inclusive growth. Therefore during the 11 th and 12 th five year plans, government introduces the idea of inclusive growth. Further this paper proceeds suggesting various strategies to bring in a more succesful inclusive and pro poor growth. Secularism in India was conceived as a system that sustained religious and cultural pluralism but then this essay tries to bring out the fact that how religious fundamentalism and communalism has started to define the fate of Indian secularism. This essay also tries to analyze how the recent growth of radical Hindutva ideology is causing a serious threat towards the secular face of this nation. To prove these facts, this essay takes the case study of the communal violence or more precisely the genocide which took place in Kandhamal against the Christian minorities. This essay, therefore tries to bring out a chronological timeline of the various events that unfolded in the Kandhamal district of Orissa. This proves the fact that India is secular more or less only on papers.
