MOD UPDATE
Hiatus

Scifiverse will officially go on hiatus after Phase Two. I'm distracted with a number of other things at the moment, both online and in rl, and my heart is just not in the right place to run this community properly. I need a break.

I love this community a lot, and I hope to be able to bring us back to active status with a third phase at some point, but unfortunately I don't know when that will be. I hope you've all had as much fun as I have, and if/when I'm able to restart the game, I sincerely hope you'll still be here.

I'd also like to apologize for getting so behind on posting results. I'm going to try to catch up in the next few days so that we'll be up to date for the end of the phase this weekend. :)

MOD UPDATE
Phase Two Rosters

Phase Two is only five days away! Under the cut are the new team rosters. Everyone who's continuing kept the same team they had last phase, but each team has some new members and/or some who left the game, so there are changes all around.

Team leaders are bolded with the exception of Robots who’ll need new leaders for this phase. Look for a post with more info soon.

If you're seeing this post but you're not on the lists below, you're not in the game for Phase Two. Please comment at the sorting post to join the game.

Are You in the Game?

If you're reading this post but you cannot see this post, then you have not been properly added to the game. Please fix this -- we'd love to have you join in the fun! Here's how:

If you haven't already been sorted onto a team, please go to the sorting post. Just a couple easy questions and you'll be added to a team so you can start playing. We have a few missions posted already, so there's lots of fun to be had!

If you've already been sorted at the sorting post, then you need to join scifiverse, sfvcantina, and your team community to see all of the posts. You should have invites that you can accept on the manage invites page, but if you don't, go ahead and join from the profile pages and I'll approve you. If you're still having trouble, please let me know! I'll walk you through fixing the issue. :)

Welcome to Scifiverse!

If you'd like to join the game, you've come to the right place. If you haven't already, please read the rules, FAQs, and included fandoms post before commenting. This community thrives on participation -- please only join if you intend to participate at least once every seven challenges.

The four Scifiverse teams are:

Team Robots: Terminators, Cylons, Droids, and more
Team Aliens: From Superman to The Doctor to the Na’vi
Team Alternates: The other "us" - clones, copies, and different realities
Team Travelers: Through space and time or between dimensions

The team names are just that: names. They organize who you play with, but they do not affect what fandoms you can use. Any and all Scifiverse fandoms are available to all members on all teams.

To join a team and start playing the game, please comment with the following information:

I generally process new members within 48 hours, but very occasionally it may take up to a week. I will try to accommodate your first choice team, but I keep the teams as even as possible, so I may place you in your second choice team or ask you to wait until there is a spot open.

Team Robots and Team Travelers are currently closed.
You may either join an open team and begin playing immediately or request a closed team and wait for an available spot.

The definition of science fiction is a tricky one-- no one definition has really been universally accepted, and the line between scifi and other genres like fantasy, horror, spy-fi, etc. continues to be debated. The following statements, however, are helpful in defining the genre.

This community is fairly narrow in what it considers to be scifi. To be included here, science fiction elements (aliens, tech, alternate dimentions, etc.) must be among the overarching themes and essential to the plot of the fandom. Fandoms with only minor instances of science fiction, and fandoms where themes of other genres (fantasy, spy, horror, etc) take precedence over the scifi elements or are merely supported by the scifi elements, will not be allowed.

The following films and tv shows are allowed to be used in challenges at Scifiverse. The list can be expanded, and each potential new fandom will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If there’s a film or tv show you’d like to submit for consideration, please leave a comment with a link to the Wikipedia article or other similar description. Please only ask for fandoms to be added if you intend to use them in challenges.

We are not currently looking for any additional team leaders, but if you'd like to be considered at a future date, feel free to fill out the app and leave it below.

Team leaders should be able to post mission reminders, last calls, help/hints, and team bonding activities on a regular basis. Leaders should have a positive attitude and a competitive spirit. Previous land comm experience is required, but previous team leader experience is not.

Opting Out
Leave a comment here if you'd like to leave for any reason. You'll be removed from your team and all related Scifiverse communities. You may return whenever you wish by reapplying at the Sorting Post (coming soon), but there's no guarantee that you'll be able to return to the same team.

Hiatus
If you'll be gone for a limited time and would like to return to your team at a later date, leave a comment here with when and how long you'll be gone. You'll be marked as "on hiatus" and will have no participation requirement for that time. You'll remain a member of all Scifiverse communities and you'll stay on the same team when you return.

Affiliates
If you have a related community that you'd like to affiliate with scifiverse, please leave a comment here. We are open to affiliating with all land comms and scifi-related communities. After agreeing to affiliate with us, please leave a link to us at your comm, and I'll add your link to our user info.
