We are presenting a case of a teenage boy with painless nasal blockage and fullness of bilateral ears for two to three months. On nasal endoscopy, a firm proliferative mass obstructing the right nasal cavity was noted. It was bleeding on touch. On contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the paranasal sinuses (CECT PNS), a diagnosis of the JNA was made based on the evidence of bony erosion and intense post-contrast enhancement. He was preoperatively locally embolized followed by surgical resection. On follow-up, the patient was stable with no signs of recurrence.

Comparison of the physiological responses and distance walked during 6-minute walk test on level ground and on a treadmill in normal healthy middle age group individuals

Ageing changes in the cardiovascular, respiratory, central nervous system and musculoskeletal sys... more Ageing changes in the cardiovascular, respiratory, central nervous system and musculoskeletal systems etc results in an overall reduction of functional capacity, which may affect daily activities in middle age group individuals. So assessment of functional capacity is an important aspect in this population group. The 6 Minute walk test is extensively being used to assess the functional capacity as it is more reflective of activities of daily living than the other walk tests and it is easy to administer and better tolerated. Treadmills can be an efficient, and space-saving alternative for performing the standard 6 MWT, as it saves the space, and enables constant hemodynamic surveillance that is necessary for the safety test performance, and will also minimize the errors in calculating the various parameters during the 6MWT. The aim of the study: This study is aimed at comparing the physiological responses and the distance walked during the 6MWT on level ground (LG) and on a treadmill...

Electromagnetic Interference related malfunctioning of equipments containing electronic control d... more Electromagnetic Interference related malfunctioning of equipments containing electronic control devices has become serious problem these days, as it couples to wires and PCB's in the equipment, reflecting and resonating and then being amplified by IC finally resulting in maloperation. In order to test and simulate the immunity of electronic circuits towards EMI environment, an Electrical Fast Transient/Burst generator has been developed which generates broadband interference spectrum in the range of 20MHz to 600MHz. Burst Generator mainly comprises of coaxial cables, pressurized spark gaps, HV Power Supply, terminating resistor and a TEM Horn which acts as load. For pulse sharpening, switching has been done at two stages. Depending upon the delay time of coaxial line, width of square wave pulse has been kept 50ns. The total energy of the portable system is 34 Joules and weighs less than 50kg. In the presented paper we describe the system design, results of measurements and areas of further improvements in energy transfer efficiency.

Analysis of treatment technique and response was carried out in 185 cases that completed adequate therapy. Sixty percent of patients with stage I and II disease (21/35) received radiation therapy alone as the primary modality of treatment. Patients (150) with stage III or IV disease received palliative irradiation (57 cases), radical surgery (54 cases), or a combination of both (39 cases). The 2-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 48% for radiotherapy and 46% for surgery in the early stages and 5% and 33%, respectively, for advanced stages. Radiotherapy with a modifed technique is recommended for the early-stage cancers and preoperative irradiation with adjuvant chemotherapy or hyperthermia for the advanced stages.
