Hello, I am new to this community. I like to dabble in sci-fi writing. My favorite authors are Greg Bear, Norman Spinrad, and Frank Herbert. Here is a little piece of prose I call

:solar sail:

lights out - this balloon will fly

standing on top of it, pageantry
glittery banner, year 204-and something,
(it was the Forties and we were so innocent then- "grin")
steel landing platform, hollow click of debutante heels
they gasp – maiden voyage, married money

crisp radio signal arrives like the top of struck
darbuka drum, chirping jays on a magnolia tree
giving static - the scalding comfort of public forum
this space-girl is mad for the bitwise operators
police who stand nude two by twelve,
deep in the rows of themselves

the hull may
expand like peeled lemon watch yr fingercuts
microphones-out, yes
the world
the whole world is watching
w/ dark African eyes like Jack Johnson standing on the pier

deep, deep cascade of violet temper subdued
the smart-mob below, escuchion of muscle
play like the overture for William Tell
aint it silly, such techno-optimisme
homes atop silver clouds
could this ever happen in France

a little robo-dog yaps… at the moon?
no, it’s daddy in an orbiting disk waving hello
blinking green eyes say “master, i’m coming, i'm coming
and when I’m gone i'm never goin' home”
where the broken umbrella’s handle would connect

lights out - they escape!
