Copernicus Service on Support to EU External and Security Actions

The Copernicus Service on Support to EU External and Security Actions (SESA) is a European geospatial information service that assists the EU and its Member States by enhancing situational awareness needed by institutional stakeholders working in security-related domains.

Copernicus SESA delivers custom-designed geospatial products based on the analysis of satellite imagery. The service can be activated within and outside the EU territory and assists the EU and its Member States in the framework of applicable Union policies and legislation along the following main policy groups, associated to key responsibilities across EU Institutions and Member States:

The information provided contributes to improving European capacities in crisis prevention, preparedness and response. It also aims to assist in situations of crisis or emerging crisis and supports them in order to prevent global and trans-regional threats having a destabilising effect.

These value-adding activities are streamlined through three types of service.

Hovering Horizon

The bimonthly periodical to be in the state of the art in the world of Space and Security

Hovering Horizon is a magazine created by the Copernicus SESA Service. It airs once every two months and it contains a reader’s digest of the most relevant R&D events in the overlap between the worlds of Space science and Security issues.
