Joel Beckham | Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (original) (raw)
I serve as an Elder and as the Minister of Education at All Nations Church, Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2009, I had the privilege to assist in Pastoral Training during my visit to Kenya, Africa and in 2015, to do the same in Guyana, South America. In addition, I have lectured at Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) located in Henderson, North Carolina on the History of Biblical Interpretation. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History, with a minor in Political Science from East Carolina University (ECU) in 2003. While at ECU, I was inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta History honors society and received an award for the most promising Junior in the History Department. I entered graduated studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007 and graduated with the Master of Divinity (w/ Biblical Languages) in 2010. I received two awards upon graduation for excellence in New Testament scholarship and excellence in preaching. I immediately began post-graduate studies, entering the Master of Theology (Th.M.) in the fall of 2010. My academic emphasis is the research on the Epistle of Jude. My post-graduate course work included seminars on the Septuagint, New Testament Theology and Ante-Nicene Christology. Part of my academic focus included a seminar on the Septuagint which introduced me to textual criticism, as I scrutinized and examined Ruth in both the Septuagint (LXX) and the Masoretic Text (MT) in an effort to discover a common Vorlage. The New Testament Theology seminar introduced me to both the unity and diversity within the New Testament and the Ante-Nicene Christology seminar was my introduction to the Church Fathers and how the Christological outcome of Nicea was developed through the apostolic teaching of Christ according to the Scriptures.
In May 2015, I earned the degree, Master of Theology, upon completion of my research project. The final paper is uploaded under "Papers." I plan to pursue a PhD in New Testament studies and hope to teach at the seminary level.
