A Welcome Shore (original) (raw)

Hi, this is my sales post, which will mainly be J-pop/rock cds, magazines and other related goods.

Everything is split up between 'new', which means it's still in its original packaging/condition, and 'used', which of course means it has been used before but I only sell used items if they're still in near mint condition. If there is any damage to them beyond the normal wear of use I will mention it in the description.

Unless mentioned otherwise all items are the official Japanese releases. Which means the DVDs will be Region 2 coded and you will need a DVD player that will play Region 2 DVDs to view them.

All prices listed are in U.S. Dollars (USD).

I will only accept paypal asp a method of payment. My paypal e-mail address is a.distant.shore.seca [at] gmail.com. Because I will not know what the exact shipping cost will be until I send out the item you will have to make two payments. The first will be the price of the item and then after I send out the item the cost of shipping & handling.

I can ship internationally and domestically (Japan). I will always go for the cheapest shipping method unless you instruct me otherwise. If you want to know how much the shipping of an item will be please check this site to get an estimate. (I am shipping out of Saitama.)

Known weights:

CD = about 120 g
CD w/DVD = about 200 g

Also feel free to leave a comment if you've purchased something from me or check my feedback here.

I will be leaving Japan at the end of January, 2010, so I do need to get rid of items and will not have the time to search for items for others anymore as I have to study for finals and get myself packed up to leave.

This service is no longer available.

This is for pre-ordering concert goods from Johnny's concerts. As I live near Tokyo I will only be able to get goods from concerts in Tokyo. If I am going to a concert in Yokohama though I will be able to pick up goods from concerts there as well, but as it's about two hours away from where I am living in Japan I won't be making that trip unless I already have plans to go there.

I will only put up pre-order listings once the official goods list has been released. For those goods that are announced only a week or so before the concert I will allow the payment deadline date to be only a couple of days out from the event but otherwise the usual payment deadline will be a week before the first concert date.

PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING

All payments for goods must be paid in full before I will purchase the items. If I cannot get you any item, you will get refunded in full.

I will not buy posters, as even for concerts in Tokyo I have to travel about an hour on the trains so bulky items like posters would be difficult to carry with me. Also pricing for packaging and shipping tends to be quite expensive because of the size of the item.

I only accept Paypal, no other method of payment will be accepted.

You do not have to pay for shipping until the items have been shipped, as that will be when I will know exactly how much shipping will cost. All shipping will be Airmail unless another shipping method is requested, as it is normally the cheapest shipping method from Japan.

Also, I do not have a lot of free time, as I am a full time student and must commute into Tokyo to go to school every weekday. So I will try to get orders sent out within two weeks of the concert.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via PM.

This post is for giving sales feedback. So if you have ordered something from me please feel free to leave a comment.

PLEASE READ the following BEFORE making an order.

I have decided to do a massive cut back of the official Johnny's photos that I have and want to see if I can sell some before I move. I will not take anymore orders for the photos past April 2nd, midnight (PST). I leave on my trip on the night of April 4th so I need to be paid by noon that day so I can make sure I can send everything out before I leave.

If you fail to pay before then and the post office is closed by the time you do I will consider the order cancelled and if you sent money refund it. I will not be taking any of these photos with me as I have no idea what my schedule will be like after that and I do not want to have to worry about orders and sales.

The sooner you pay the sooner I can ship your order out.

All photos are official photos from either the Johnny's Store or purchased at a concert venue in Japan. They are 2USD each but for every five you get 1USD off. For example, five photos would be 9USD and ten would be 18USD and so on.

With my paid account expiring soon I've decided to reevaluate keeping my LJ. I don't think I could ever get rid of it completely as I have too many friends and communities that I enjoy here. So I'm sticking around but I don't see myself posting on my journal much any more. I'll still be checking my friend's list frequently though.

I have already re-hauled my profile page with links to the various other blogs that I do plan on keeping up and being active on. And here are those links here as well:

Chihiro Onitsuka is one of my favorite female vocalists. I first discovered her music when I bought the Japan Gold Disc 2004 CD as it had her hit song 'Gekkou' on it. The song caught my attention immediately and I knew I had found a new artist that I had to get more of. I was not disappointed with any of her cds and I still adore watching her concert DVDs as she sounds great live.

A couple of years ago she had throat surgery and after changing recording labels then releasing one single she went on an hiatus. The hiatus lasted for about 2-3 years and she had to suffer through a stalker incident during that time. Earlier this year she finally made her come back with the release of her 'everyhome' single much to the relief and delight of her fans, like me, who had thought they she may not be returning to her singing career. She just released a new single on the 19th, 'Bokura Barairo no Hibi', and will release her new album 'Las Vegas' on October 7th.

Her style in the past has mainly been ballads with a lot of piano but in recent years she has begun to move onto more of a rockish sound. Some people tend to confuse the meaning of her lyrics, which tend to be rather deep, to be Christian because of her uses of God in a few of them but reading through the translations for the entire song you can tell that she, like many Japanese, don't view God the same way as in Western culture. The fan favorites are 'Gekkou' and 'infection', while some of my personal favorites are 'Tiger in my love' and 'Watashi to waltz wo'. I highly recommend giving her a listen at least.

Seriously, B'z is one of the best Japanese rock groups in Japan in my opinion and is the most successful. They are the top selling Japanese artist with over 80 million albums sold and every cd they have released after 1990 has debuted at #1. They debuted in 1988 which makes 2008 their 20th anniversary. Their music is just fun to listen to and the guitarist, Tak Matsumoto, is a legendary guitarist.

Like any band that's been around for some time they both have solo works. They also have done song writing for other Japanese artists, one example is that Tak Matsumoto wrote the music to KAT-TUN's #1 debut single 'Real Face' (which is also the one KAT-TUN song that I really enjoy).

I got hooked on them when I heard 'Love Phantom', as it's really a stand out song. I haven't kept up with their releases like I should since after listening to some of their recent songs I definitely need to pick up their latest album.

Here's some links to learn more about this duo and give their music a listen.

Looks like this fall/winter season I'll be watching quite a few series with large male casts. So far the only new series that have cought my eye have been Black Cat (yea for Shonen Jump series), and Cluster Edge (a series were I have yet to see a female cast member for). And I'm going to stick to Bleach, One Piece, and Eyeshield 21 for my weekly downloads.

But I'm really excited to see Cluster Edge, if just because so far it looks really pretty and I like the character designs. Though I swear the Fon Aina Sulfur character looks like a hybrid between Quatre from Gundam Wing and Momoji from Fruits Basket. I think this is going to be my eye candy series for this broadcast season, unless it surprises me and have a good plot and interesting characters.

I just got the 'Love for Nana' CD today and I'm just so loving it. I knew I was going to love some of the track right off the bat because they're from some of my favorite Japanese artists. But most of the other tracks are really enjoyable to listen too, which rather surprised me.

The packaging looks more like a DVD case than a CD case and it's very shiny. I almost blinded myself looking at it when I pulled it out of the box. I got the Black Stones version of the tribute album so the cover had pictures of the band's members, one which is one of the main characters of the 'Nana' movie. The booklet inside is the size of a regular CD booklet and has all the lyrics and some words from the artists who had songs on the cd.

My favorite track off the album is 'stay away' by abingdon boys school, which is Takanori Nishikawa's (of T.M. Revolution fame) band. He wrote the music and the words for the song which has a good rock feel to it. I was very impressed by his English skills since the lyrics are completely in English and you can understand what he's singing better than some native English singers.

I also enjoyed Tetsu69's (the bass player of L'Arc~en~Ciel) new song, 'REVERSE', ZONE's 'Two Hearts' and Do As Infinity's 'I miss you?'. But I've liked what those artists have done before so I was expecting to like those songs.

I was pretty sure I wasn't going to like Ai Otsuka's song on the album, 'Cherish', since I don't really like how her voice sounds. But I ended up liking it in the end. I still don't really like her voice but it sounds well with the song.

I think the only song I didn't like on the album is 'BLACK CROW', by SEX MACHINEGUNS. The singer's voice is grating to listen to and the song just didn't stand out to me at all.

Just saw the Batman Begins movie trailer and it looks good. I was worried about another Bat-movie after the disaster that was the fourth movie. But from what's in the trailer it's closer to the first movie rather than the latter movies.
