We could make a group for recoverers of suicidal thoughts and ideations and for those who are still struggling...a place where the recoverers are moderators and can keep the conversation generic enough to be ok and not trigger others. It could be a really good opportunity to find out what's beneath the thoughts, like what triggers them, and to have friends around 24/7 to respond. It's so key to have understanding friends who are or who have been in the same place as you-- it breaks the isolation and secrecy which run rampant and breed in the darkness, occluding to the shame.
That's what I said in a response to one girl's struggle to find someone who will listen in a way she is comfortable with. And so here the community is.
We are about looking for light in the darkness, or learning to believe that admist all this darkness there is light. This is not a place for tips and tricks on how to commit suicide, but rather a place for those who are fighting through it, who feel in their gut that they want life but just can't see another way out just yet. It is also a place for those who have found the light to be here for those still searching, and to use their experience to guide others out.
Rule:
No talking about specific plans. You may acknowledge the severity of your level of suicidality if you think it will help you.
Disclaimer:
I'm hoping this can be a great place for understanding and support, though I do have to say that the group is not responsible for its members, if you know what I mean. Should anything happen where you feel you are in a life or death crisis (which I hope it won't-- I hope this group will help prevent us from acting on urges), please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call a live suicide hotline.
