What is SephirArt?
SephirArt is an online art and image manipulation community that emphasizes collaboration and peer production. Unlike other art and image sites in which individuals post their own work, SephirArt encourages users to create works together, using other members' artwork as basis for new ideas and interpretations. Pieces become works of plural authorship stemming from the minds of multiple people.
How does it work?
A first Base user posts an image of his or her own creation. Subsequent users may Branch off of this initial image by replying to this entry with a new image-- some kind of new content that uses the Base image as inspiration or base material. Examples of branching images might include photo-editing, applying special effects, painting color, creating parody, or sequentially continuing a work (in the case of a comic or some kind of story image).
How do I post an image?
Base image posts can be made easily-- simply create a new topic and choose Insert Image in the bar above the entry text field. To create a Branching image, reply to an existing Base image post in the community. LiveJournal does not have an Insert Image option for replies, but images can be uploaded easily to your LJ ScrapBook or at an online image hosting account such as PhotoBucket or ImageShack. Images can then be added to a reply using HTML tags with the format < img src = "http://yoururlhere.com" > (without the spaces).
