(no subject) [Jul. 13th, 2006|02:04 pm]San Francisco Bay Area Fannish Shooters
Anyone watch the "Battleground" episode of "Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King" miniseries? I am trying to place the submachine gun William Hurt uses in the episode. It looks like a Mac-10, but has an unfamiliar barrel extension. I think there is a silencer there - but it still looks longer than just a silencer would be. Speaking of silencers, the pistol he uses has one, but the sound effect they use seems pretty loud to me. Also, I wonder how much you can shoot up your luxury apartment - even on the top floor - before people on the floor below get nervous. And how much penetrating power would a Mac-10 have when shot at the floor?

Pirate movie guns [May. 25th, 2006|05:20 pm]San Francisco Bay Area Fannish Shooters
Does anyone else sit by, making snide comments, when the pirates are using Civil War weaponry? I know that the "Pirate Period" is essentially a fantasy timeframe, but gods teeth, I couldn't watch "Cutthroat Island" for all the 19th century weaponry that was in it, unless I played weapons heckler. And this is why our friends don't go to movies like this with us. Or do, and join in the snide comments, while everyone else in the theater glowers at us...

A bit of trivia to start you off with. [May. 25th, 2006|04:10 pm]San Francisco Bay Area Fannish Shooters
I'm sure that all of you have seen Serenity and/or Firefly. Many of you probably noticed that Cap'n Mal's sidearm was all futuristic and kinda goofy looking. The natural supposition is that it was some basic revolver with bits added to it to make it look "futuristic".( No such luckCollapse )
