- What an incredible session hosted by The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham Singapore) at our Singapore office! π The session focussed on "AI in Action: Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics" and offered invaluable insights and learnings from industry leaders. ποΈ A huge shoutout to Abdullah Al Mahbub from FedEx Asia Pacific and our very own Wai Kit from Lumen who shared their expertise on AI's transformative role in the supply chain. From optimizing data to training AI and people, the discussion emphasized the importance of focusing on effective use cases, creating training programs, and ensuring trust in AI solutions. Also, a big call out to Sue Breniman from Gartner who moderated the engaging dialogue. The takeaways were clear: π‘ Zero in on the most impactful AI use cases. π‘ Transform data into actionable insights with the right training. π‘ Foster trust in AI through a balanced approach to training both people and models. π‘ Start with clearly defined problems and find AI solutions that provide real value. At Lumen, weβre proud to be leading this AI journey ourselves, standing as The Trusted Network for AI that empowers organizations to harness AI's potential. It was a privilege to host this enlightening session with AmCham #SupplyChain #Logistics #TrustedNetworkforAI #LumenTechnologies #AmChamSingapore Hannah Halim Preetam Bose John Hines Keyur Shah
π§ #ICYMI AmCham recently hosted a joint Technology, Media & Telecommunications and Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics committee event on AI in Action: Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics hosted at the Lumen Technologies office. π€ The panel featured speakers Abdullah Al Mahbub, Managing Director for Operations Digital Solutions, AMEA of FedEx and Wai Kit Cheah, Senior Director, Product Management & Practices of Lumen Technologies APAC. The discussion was moderated by Sue Breniman, Executive Partner, Supply Chain & VP, APAC at Gartner. The panelists shared their insights and experiences in technology adoption in supply chain, AI-use cases in the industry as well as opportunities and challenges in implementing AI-powered solutions. Key insights included: β‘ Focus on the most effective use cases β Traditional AI has already transformed the industry by revolutionizing manufacturing, reducing waste and increasing efficiency. As new AI streams emerge, they can start by focusing on the most effective use cases with common capabilities of development. Examples shared included improving customer interaction or optimization of spotting patterns for data scientists and data engineers. β‘ Training is essential for transforming data into action β To become a data-driven and AI-powered organization, harnessing and optimizing data is critical. While having large amounts of data can be valuable, itβs even more important that operators on the ground are trained to utilize the data available to them for better efficiency and problem solving. This can be achieved by creating training programs for operators that will cover both the mechanics and the benefits of AI solutions, and help operators understand how AI can improve their daily work. β‘ Training AI models and people is not linear β Building an AI model requires training both the model and workers. It is important to train workers who will be using the AI output to understand AI limitations and build their trust. As they introduce AI solutions, some organizations have created guidelines that included disclaimers explaining outputs are based on certain parameters, added continuous feedback loops on the accuracy of the output, and schedule regular check-ins with users to get feedback on the functionality of the AI models in their day to day operations β‘ Know your problem, find the solution β To ensure that AI is more than hype, organizations need to define the problem and develop an AI strategy. Organizations can set up focus groups or feedback channels for staff and operators to share common challenges, what outcome they want to achieve and any hesitation in adopting AI. Additionally, they can use the AI use-case prism for supply chain to see if the problem they want to solve is both feasible and has business value. β¨ We thank Lumen Technologies for hosting and to the attendees for an insightful discussion.#artificialintelligence #supplychain #logistics #AmChamREPRESENT #AmChamSGplus- +7

π π Did you know that the whale migration season is getting longer? Thanks to #conservation efforts, the whale population is thriving, giving us even more time to witness these majestic creatures up close! As part of Lumen APAC's ERG initiative, our Sydney team recently dove into the world of whale conservation and learnt just how important it is to protect these incredible animals. Here are some quick learnings from Fash Nejad: When Can You Spot The Whales? Starting around May and June, whales begin their journey north. They head back south from August to November, with the peak season happening from late June through July. The NSW coastline is a prime spot to see humpbacks, southern right whales, and sometimes even blue whales, minkes, and orcas! Why Do They Migrate? Whales migrate to escape the cold Southern Ocean and find warmer waters to breed. While adult whales have a thick layer of blubber to keep warm, newborns don't. So, they head north where it's warmer, allowing the calves to build up their blubber from their mother's rich milk. On their way back south, you might even see them closer to shore, enjoying time with their babies! How Can We Help? Thanks to conservation efforts, whale populations are growing, extending migration seasons. These actions include monitoring, protecting breeding grounds, and addressing threats like entanglement and ship strikes. While we enjoy the view, let's also think about how we can contribute to the conservation of these amazing creatures. Every action counts. Support conservation groups, join citizen science projects, and advocate for marine protection! Let's all do our part to ensure these giants of the sea continue to thrive! ππJordan Cheung Henry H.
