The role of sociocultural factors in gender preference is known since ages. The skewed sex ratio in India is attributed to selective female feticides and misuse of technological advancements. This also has a strong influence on contraceptive acceptance among couples. OBJECTIVES: The present study was conducted to explore the contraceptive use, gender preferences and its determinants among married women in rural Gurgaon. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among married women (18-45years) residing in the rural field practice area of SGT medical college and hospital, Gurugram. The sample size was found to be 400. Systematic random sampling technique was used to recruit the study participants. Pre- tested, pre-designed questionnaire was used for data collection. Tobacco epidemic is one of the public health threats killing nearly six million people yearly. Tobacco use also contributes to poor oral health causing staining, bad breath and tooth decay. Different studies in India are suggestive of upward trend in use of tobacco even in adolescents.OBJECTIVES: To find the prevalence of tobacco use among adolescents in an urban slum and to assess the oral health status among them.METHODOLOGY: This cross sectional study was done as a part of oral health assessment camp conducted in an urban slum. All adolescents attending the camp were recruited in the study after due informed consent, the final sample size being 130.RESULTS: The overall tobacco use among adolescents was found to be 95.8% adolescent boys and 27.6% among adolescent girls. Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare and peculiar biphasic malignant neoplasm that occurs mainly in th... more Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare and peculiar biphasic malignant neoplasm that occurs mainly in the upper aerodigestive tract. Sarcomatoid carcinoma is an unusual biphasic tumor composed of both malignant epithelial and malignant mesesnchymal component in association with, and usually dominated by, an abundant dysplastic-appearing spindle cells. This tumor consistently poses a significant diagnostic challenge to pathologists. Despite of several immunohistochemical, electron microscopic and genetic studies, precise histogenesis of sarcomatoid carcinoma is quite controversial. Here we are describing a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma in a 40 yr old male patient with special emphasis on immunohistochemical analysis. Here, we are describing a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma in a 40-year-old male who presented with a small swelling & pain in hard palate along with immunohistochemical analysis.

Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of transcutaneous electric nerve stimul... more Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation in the symptomatic relief of pain in temporomandibular disorders. Materials & Methods: Twenty patients received TENS therapy and VAS was used to measure changes in pain during and after therapy. Also changes in mouth opening were recorded and analyzed. Results: A significant improvement was observed regarding orofacial pain, muscles and TMJs tenderness and interincisal distance. Conclusion: Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation is superior in complete elimination of pain as well as in reduction of severity in temporomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome.
