Research paper thumbnail of Comparative Effectiveness of Multiple Laser Scanning and Conventional Techniques on Zirconia Shear Bond Strength

Coatings, 2019

This study aimed to compare the impact of different laser scanning with that of conventional meth... more This study aimed to compare the impact of different laser scanning with that of conventional methods on zirconia surface treatment through evaluation of shear bond strength (SBS) values. One hundred and thirty-two sintered zirconia cubic-samples were prepared and randomly divided into six study groups: milling control (without surface treatment); grinding; sandblasting; and three-times, four-times, and five-times laser scanning groups. The treatment process for the first three groups was performed before the zirconia coating, while the last three groups were treated after zirconia coating with veneer slurry through a spraying technique. In the current study, the surface roughness Ra, contact angle measurement, phase transformation, topography and interfaces, SBS in unaged and aged conditions, and fracture mode patterns of zirconia cores were investigated. The results were analyzed using laser confocal scanning microscopy, drop analyzer, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron ...

Research paper thumbnail of Data from: Micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coating on titanium by micro-arc oxidation enhances osteoblast adhesion and differentiation

Nano-structured and micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coatings were produced on polished ti... more Nano-structured and micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coatings were produced on polished titanium by the micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technique. This study was conducted to screen a suitable structured TiO2 coating for osteoblast adhesion and differentiation in dental implants. The formulation was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and wettability testing. Adhesion, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation of MG63 cells were analysed by SEM, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), and quantitative real-time PCR. The micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coating with both slots and pores showed the best morphology and wettability. XRD analysis revealed that rutile predominated along with a minor amount of anatase in both TiO2 coatings. Adhesion and extension of MG63 cells on the micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coating were the most favourable. MG63 cells showed higher growth rates on the micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coating at 1 and 3 days. Osteogenic-related gene expression was markedly increased in the micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coating group compared to in the polished titanium group at 7, 14, and 21 days. These results revealed the micro/nano-hierarchical structured TiO2 coating as a promising surface modification and suitable biomaterial for use with dental implants

Sources: An electronic search was conducted across Ovid Medline, complemented by manual search across individual databases, such as Cochrane, Medline and ISI Web of Science databases and Google Scholar for literature analysis on the mentioned topic. The studies were reviewed thoroughly. This paper summarizes the current scientific and clinical opinions through a brief overview regarding the preferred way of utilizing CAD/CAM in dentistry. Conclusions: The importance of CAD/CAM systems has seen a dramatic development in the number of products and procedures over last decades, with a concomitant rise in publications on the topic. Literature suggests that using this technology permits carrying out dental treatments feasibly particularly for fixed dental appliances. Based on the previous findings, it is concluded that in office CAD/CAM technique appears to be the most common t...

Research paper thumbnail of The Impact of Curcumin on Bone Osteogenic Promotion of MC3T3 Cells under High Glucose Conditions and Enhanced Bone Formation in Diabetic Mice

Coatings

Diabetic osteoporosis (DOP) is characterized by impaired bone microstructure and reduced bone den... more Diabetic osteoporosis (DOP) is characterized by impaired bone microstructure and reduced bone density resulting from high glucose levels. Curcumin (CURC) is extensively applied in the treatment of inflammation-associated diseases. However, the effect of curcumin on bone metabolism in diabetic osteoporosis is unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the optimal concentration of curcumin on enhancing osteogenesis in diabetic osteoporosis. Osteoblasts were treated with a high or low concentration of curcumin under a series of concentrations of high-glucose conditions. Type 2 diabetic mice were intervened with curcumin. Cell proliferation, apoptosis, and osteogenesis-related gene expressions were evaluated by CCK-8, flow cytometry, and real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Bone formation was evaluated by histological staining. The findings revealed that curcumin suppressed apoptosis and enhanced proliferation and osteogenesis-related gene e...
