Shiba Inus (original) (raw)

[27 Feb 2012|08:47pm]
Well it seems rather quiet here, but I thought I'd give you shiba photos. (they're cross posted elsewhere so people might end up seeing them multiple times.)Sasuke loves going down to my dad's where he can go along to the beach. Photobucket( Read more...Collapse )

My mom saw this on the news today and sent this to me. Oddly enough, there was also something on my local news today where 10 dogs have died in a trailer park because someone left rat poison out. :( It's just a sad reminder to watch out for what our dogs are eating. I know I have to be especially careful because my dog will eat anything off the ground and will not give it up. On a lighter note, glad to see the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam up and running again!

Introducing Toki and Angel! [01 Mar 2011|10:06pm]
[ **mood** | excited ] Hi there! This LJ account is pretty much...a blog dedicated to my lovely Shiba Inu (or it is going to be when I finally get around to including more posts). I'm mildly Shiba-obsessed. Wanted to join here and post here to try to meet other people with/who love Shibas since Toki and I have never met any other Shibas, or the people that they own. =)

Shiba for adoption in Colorado [05 Nov 2010|04:03pm]
Hi, is anyone in Colorado interested in adopting a sweet Shiba? I am fostering one via a Shiba rescue group, and she really needs a forever home. Her name is Tamiko (or Tami, or Miko) and you can read all about her on her blog:http://adopt-a-shiba.tumblr.comPlease pass the word on! She survived 6 years in a puppy mill in Kansas and deserves to find her home now.

-Frustrated.- [16 Jul 2010|05:11pm]
[ **mood** | calm ] While I was away for three weeks in Boston my shiba picked up some...bad habits thanks to my fiance. You see, I'm the one who does everything for her. I take her on walks, I take her out to go to the bathroom, vet trips, feedings, etc. Same for her brother (baby kitten). While I was visiting family and attending a funeral I had to leave the two of them in his care and he claimed it wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately with school and work she connected our apartment carpet with the outside grass and our hallway became her toilet. He tried putting puppy pads down and that didn't work. She, instead, would try to tear them upOne of my friends basically put it best:"he basically spent the better part of a month reinforcing the idea that its ok to use the apt as a bathroom"I've been doing my best to take her outside but she doesn't feel that going in the apartment anymore is a "bad thing" to do. Re-training her to go outside has been frustrating.Any ideas? :(

FLORIDA - Shiba rescue help needed! [09 Jun 2010|11:11am]
Summer is a great time to get involved with animal rescue, if you're not volunteering already! Got this message from the Basenji Rescue and Transport (BRAT) volunteer list. Please consider helping if you can, or pass the message on to anyone you know of!---Date: Tue, 8 Jun 2010 19:45:05 -0500From: "Sharon" teripie@mchsi.comSubject: BRAT-CHAT: Shiba Inu Help NeededThe reason I'm addressing this to BRAT is I know you guys are really resourceful and can maybe aim me in the right direction.I volunteer at the local county animal shelter, a shelter that, for want of a better term, "processes" almost a thousand animals a month, in a county populated with only 160,000 people. This is a kill shelter with a very high rate of euthanasia. The shelter currently has a little female Shiba Inu, who was picked up as a stray on May 25. I have been trying to locate Shiba Inu rescue and have sent off 2 emails to different addresses and received no responses. One went to rescue@shibas.org , and the other to elizkam@aol.com , a Florida group I think.Below is a copy of the email:The Bay County Animal Shelter, of Panama City, Florida, has in it's possession a female Shiba Inu. This is a high kill shelter and they will not be able to hold this dog much longer. She is approximately 4 years old, white, and has a skin condition her back that is healing nicely with topical treatment. She has been in their custody since May 25, and is only being kept alive this long to give me a chance to find a rescue for her. Her chances of adoption are extremely low. Information on her can be found here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/16522810 . It also provides shelter contact information. My name is Sharon Rosenberger, and I am just a volunteer, but I am trying very hard to save this sweet little dog. You can contact me at this email address, or call at (850) 624-6684.I can provide pictures. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!Sharon

Sasuke turned one yesterday, so I made him a cake and my dad came up and took the two dogs to the park. We were originally going to go up to the reservoir, but it hadn't been all that sunny and there had been bits of rain lately and the path round gets quite muddy so we thought it was better just to go to the park. They got to meet an 11month old puppy up there and have a bit of a run, though I didn't get any pictures of that. It's strange seeing how they seem to basically be their own little pack now. I noticed when they got to run around with the dog trainers dogs they tended to stay relatively close to each other, and with this dog they were just playing, but Keiko would chase the puppy and then Sasuke would cut her off. Poor thing didn't have a chance against them, think she still enjoyed the run around though. Anyway, pictures![Photobucket](https://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b134/Satankat666/Sasuke/Sasuke27-05-10-31A.jpg)mmmm cake**( Read more...Collapse )**

At first I was worried when we found the kitten that he and my little Shiba Suki would never get along. I realize how scared he must have been; he's so much tinier than she is and I have a feeling that he hadn't seen anything like a dog before. He would do nothing but hiss at her and try to intimidate her by pouncing at her.And just look at these two now! :)**( Cut for pictures!Collapse )**Funny thing is that now Loki, our kitten, will constantly pounce on Suki to get her to play with him. When he's not doing that he's playing Alien Face Hugger while trying to bite her ear. Or leg.

Question. [06 May 2010|07:49pm]
[ **mood** | chipper ] Yesterday afternoon I found a little tiny kitten in my backyard, sitting there crying. :(So I brought him into the house and we've agreed to keep him. He's such a tiny little thing. And my little shiba inu Suki seems to have mixed feeling about him. He's scared of her but she gets close to him and tries to sniff and lick him. Other times she gets a little too overzealous and puts a paw on him and makes these little huffy-growl noises. For the most part he seems to have calmed down around her but I'm still not sure how to integrate him into the family with Suki getting all huffy every time I tell her not to invade his personal space too much.Have any of you had to bring in another pet (cat, dog, etc.) after your shiba and how did they handle it?
