Questions

Sungmin had always been bad at lying, but ever since Kyuhyun's return from their Super Junior-M promotions, Kyuhyun had failed to notice those lies that Sungmin created. He had failed to notice Sungmin's melancholy expressions that tarnished his beautiful face.

Sungmin would've liked to have shot whoever suggested the idea of SJ-M, or even subgroups, but it was already inevitable and far too late. The damage had already been done. Sungmin would've liked to fix everything up - make everything like it was before - but times change and maybe this was his time to stop trying to fix everything.

The first question Kyuhyun had asked him was, "(I missed you!) Did you miss me?" Sungmin had been anxious for his return, but his return had been more anti-climatic, and so Sungmin replied with a simple embrace - his toned arms around Kyuhyun's lanky waist. Kyuhyun smiled as he breathed in Sungmin's scent; what made the distance bearable was the return...

The second question Kyuhyun had asked was the overused phrase, "How are you?" Kyuhyun was still in the middle of unpacking and had decided to start a conversation to make up for the lack of time spent together - not one phone call had been made. Sungmin thought, "I'm okay. I'm hurt. I'm empty. I don't know how I am..." But Sungmin smiled oh-so-brightly, and deflected the question back to him. Kyuhyun didn't notice anything and started talking about SJ-M, China, and Zhoumi...

The third time Kyuhyun asked a question (since his return) was when when Sungmin had found him making breakfast - "Do you want some? Zhoumi taught me how to cook whilst we were in China*." Sungmin could hear Kyuhyun's smile. Although the aroma was appetizing, Sungmin couldn't stomach the fact that Zhoumi had been the person that taught his GameKyu how to cook (he had tried so many times to teach Kyuhyun). He replied with a curt, "I'm not hungry," and left the building without breakfast (and without Kyuhyun).

That same day at dance practice (for their next album), Kyuhyun's fourth question had been, "Hyung, can you help me with these steps?" Sungmin had reluctantly stood up to show the magnae the steps, but he was whisked away by Eunhyuk who was muttering something about Donghae. Kyuhyun sighed, but he was getting used to this.

They hadn't talked properly for weeks since Kyuhyun's return and so the fifth question had been, "What's wrong?" Sungmin wanted to reply, "Everything," and spill his heart out; but Kyuhyun wouldn't have cared. And so he replied with "Nothing" and gave a quick, fake smile before turning away.

The sixth, seventh and eighth question had all been said in quick succession when Sungmin had been cornered at the end of their album recording. "Why are you ignoring me? What did I do wrong? Do you not love me anymore?" Sungmin wanted to laugh at the ironic truth. He wanted to ask, to scream back the same questions. Those same questions Sungmin had left on Kyuhyun's phone, so many damn times that he wondered how Kyuhyun could've missed it. Sungmin glared Kyuhyun in the eye and replied, "You're the genius, figure it out yourself."

The ninth question was, "Can I love you?" They laid in bed next to each other - after a night of passion where they had let go of all their insecurities about their relationship. Sungmin had replied, "No." Kyuhyun looked heartbroken; the morning after was always the worst. Sungmin never got to finish his sentence, "Because I'm scared of loving you back. Because I'm scared you'll hurt me again."

They hadn't spoken after that morning. The tenth question was, "You'll take care right?" as Kyuhyun readied to leave for China once more. The question wasn't directed at just him, not anymore, but all of Super Junior. Sungmin just smiled and waved like everyone else. Sungmin wanted to say so many things, but, maybe this time some things were better off left unsaid. "I love you." Some phrases were better off left in the bottom of people's hearts, because if Kyuhyun had bothered to look, to care, he might've realized. But Kyuhyun already had someone else, and now nothing that he could say would've changed anything.

Sungmin promised to preoccupy himself with tasks that didn't concern Kyuhyun at all, but as he cleaned

their his room, he found a picture of the two - smiling, arm in arm. On the back of the picture was a question - "We'll love each other forever, right?" This time Sungmin didn't know the answer; he tore the picture in half and threw it into the bin (just like Kyuhyun had done to his heart).
