_Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job. ~ Franklin P. Jones_First things first: Rest in peace, Sammy! Enjoy that giant Chew-Eez in the sky. <3

(Sam was our nine year old, nearly-ninety-pound German shepherd who we believe had testicular cancer. We took him to get it removed yesterday, and he passed away late last night, probably from a pulmonary blood clot.)

I've been a little lax updating recently, due to my not really having a computer handy, but I figured I would take the time this morning so I could pay my respects to the furry old man. Also, there is a celestial event that's pretty cool that will be outdated if I don't say it within the next two days.

Helloooooo, Mercury!

It's usually Venus that we can see from here with the unaided eye, so Jupiter AND Mercury? Too cool.

I've noticed an odd trend lately. Ever since The Fourth Kind came out and it freaked me the heck out, I've found the concept of aliens increasingly more creepy. I'm a paranormal junkie, and aliens used to be the only thing besides Bigfoot that I gave the skim-over treatment. Last night, though, I was watching an old episode of Is It Real? from National Geographic, and I got legitimately creeped out! From a documentary! I can usually even watch documentaries about ghosts - which I categorically believe in - without getting the willies. I'm becoming a weenie in my old age.

My new hangout

Anyway, I need to go coverslip some slides now, but I've done my duty and updated, catered to my adoring masses. ;)

Speaking of good paranormal reading, though, before I go, this is a fabulous book. I remember my Dad reading it to us when we were vacationing in Arkansas back probably fifteen years now. One of the things that made me a junkie. Enjoy!
