This amazing enthusiasm towards books and reading in the Islamic world was in fact the result of the inspiring verse of Qur'an' ‫'اﻗﺮأ‬ (means 'read ') which is the very first verse to be revealed in Qur'an. This study is an attempt to find out the rise of Islam in late sixth century and to examine the role of libraries in the development of global society. This historical study also deals with the development of Islamic libraries in the middle ages. It discusses the rise of the different Islamic libraries. This paper also gives a brief information about some of the most famous libraries under different dynasties and their organization in global level.
