It's not the end of the world, it's Mrs Hudson (original) (raw)
You absolute darlings.
48 hours ago, I thought that I had lost the 1.7 million words of fic that I wrote in the HP fandom because of skyehawke's crash. Today, thanks to the reams of you who emailed me, pointed me to the Wayback Machine (which I had never heard of!), sent me one or twelve or ninety google doc files, linked me to reddit searches, or just contacted me to express your sympathies and best hopes for document recovery, I not only have ALL of my material back, but a heart that's currently brimming over with love and gratitude for all of you. I had left the HP fandom years ago. I had always said that I wouldn't pull my stuff from the internet in case anyone was still wanting to read it, which I sort of doubted, but every now and then someone would ask. I had also said that I had no interest in promoting it anymore and wouldn't transfer it to ao3.
However, not wanting to actively promote my stuff and losing it forever are two very different things, and I'm beyond grateful to every one of you who made this recovery possible. As such, while it will take me ages to reformat it, I am changing my mind about importing it to ao3. It's going to take me a bit, but it really seems like the least I can do to thank you folks for making what feels like a miracle to me happen! Thank you so, so, so, SO much for your help!!! <333333333333333333333333333333333333333
So, I haven't posted here in literal years; I don't use this platform at all anymore and I left the HP fandom because of JK Rowling years back. That said, I'm sick at heart that skyehawke.com apparently decided to stop functioning forever without giving anyone any warning. I've lost all of my HP stuff - the hard drives those fics were saved on were MANY laptops ago and I don't have copies. Stupid, I know, but I thought I had a safe place to keep them online where people could see them if they wanted to. I wasn't going to take them down, but I also wasn't actively promoting them in any way. However, now they're just gone forever, unless any of you can help me out.
Do any of you have any of my HP fics saved at all?? If so, would you mind sharing those with me???? My email is silentauror@yahoo.com, as ever. Love to you all and thanks in hopeful advance! <3
