_11:04 am_[suddensilence] | So I'm starting to think that some of you may have forgotten about this little community. Therefore, I shall update it again to remind to you SHARE YOUR STORIES/EXPERIENCES!! yep lolAs for me, I'm fast approaching the end of my senior year which means the last choir concerts I'll have with my two AMAZING directors whom I love so much, as well as the many EXTREMELY talented people I've been singing with for 4-3 years now. I'm going to miss it very much but I plan to come back and visit them all... daily! lol As often as possible at least haha. Our last concerts will be June 1st and 2nd... It is 100% Broadway!! We're doing a little bit of everything-- from "Lullaby of Broadway" to "Defying Gravity"!! lol I'm excited. I'm working on a solo from Evita (the movie version but they're letting that slide lol). The song I'm auditioning with from that is "You Must Love Me" which is just a gorgeous song if you ask me lol I'm excited to perform it (assuming I dont blow the auditions.. haha but I'm confident! lol) And I'm also working on a duet with my dear pal, Kate. We're doing "What Is This Feeling?" from Wicked. It's soooo much fun doing it with her!! lol Although we have a REALLY hard time acting like we hate each other haha I'm also trying to find a boy who can sing the male part in "Written in the Stars" from Aida. I absolutely LOVE that song and it's just perfect for my voice. I'd LOVE to do it for the last concert but I just need to find a boy who can sing it! lolI also just finished my voice lessons with one of my directors... hopefully he'll have a space for me to take them again with him in the summer but if not, that'll be the end of my lessons with him which is really depressing. He's the one who really got me to break out of my shell and really got me to love singing and start liking my voice haha. But even if this is the last I get to work with him, like I said, I'll still be back to visit them every single chance I get hahaAnywho, yeah that's what's up with me! lol so what about all of you?!Keep the community going, guys!! update lots!! Tell your friends about the group!! If you know of a place offering lessons, tell us about it! If you know of someone (or maybe it's you!) looking for lessons, ask if we have any suggestions! As long as it's music/singing related, share it!!! Share your voice, for it is beautiful, and sing like you think no one's listening.~Hailey Current Mood: accomplished (3 Comments |Comment on this) |

_9:40 pm_[suddensilence] | Coffee House Ok, so to keep the community going, I actually have a real update! yay! lolMy school does this thing called Coffee House every year where members of the choirs can sing solos or duets or small ensambles and they can sing whatever kind of music they like! Fun stuff! :) So this year I actually worked up the nerve to audition (mostly because some of my friends would've killed me if I didnt lol) and, although I didnt get into the show, I discussed my audition with my voice teacher/ choir director/ judge for the auditions (lol) and he said that he'd never heard me sing so well or sound so confident in myself and that they were > < close to putting me into the show. The only reason they didnt is because they know me and they know I would have been SOOO intimidated on stage lol I'm not ready for 150+ people to hear me sing yet lol I barely got by with 40 at the summer recital haha. So yeah! That's my new story lolHow's singing/music been going for everyone else?! Let's share some stories peoples!! lol*loves*Your friendly mod,~HaileyP.S. For those wondering, I sang MY song lol- "I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked Current Mood: accomplished (2 Comments |Comment on this) |

_10:53 pm_[tete_du_fromage] | Hi there So, I was just cruising around random LJ comms and I found a promo for this one, which seemed totally perfect for me. Hopefully it'll get more active...but yea.Anyways, I'm in a (newly co-ed!) choir sponsored by a regional opera group and I love it, but I can't stand singing in front of small groups of people, specifically my friends and family. It just strikes me as being awkward. Anyone else get that vibe? Current Mood: blah (1 Comment |Comment on this) |

_9:51 pm_[suddensilence] | Ok so, we seriously need to get some members here, yes?!Anyone who peaks in on this community, please, join! (wow do I sound desperate! lol)And make sure to do some promoting while you're at it! Whether it be in your own personal journal or in other communities where people might be interested in this one as well! Two members is just... kinda sad lol. If we dont get some more soon, I might start seriously considering just deleting this community all together. Which would really be a shame because I created this community so help people in my position because I know for sure there are so many of them out there! So try to do some promoting! Much love and confidence sent from me to all who read-Your friendly mod- Hailey Current Mood: calm (Comment on this) |

_10:15 am_[coral_amber] | I know I'm talking to a dead community, but I'll post anyway. I'm 14, and, you guessed it, a silent singer. I told my mom I wanted to take vocal lessons, she said that she wanted me to be sure that the investment paid off. I told I didn't think I was all that great, and she just told me to forget it then. I've decided I want her to hear it for herself and tell me if she thinks it'll pay off. Of course, this was a month ago, and I still haven't sang for her. I don't think I sound bad, I just don't think I sound exceptionally good, and I have a bad habit of thinking if I don't sound as good as the original performer, I sound bad. I've never sang in front of anyone so I've never gotten any comments. (4 Comments |Comment on this) |

_9:12 pm_[dannm] | First I'd like to say thanks for sharing that story with us, Hailey! I hope one day I'll come out of my shell too!Anyway my name is Dan, I'm a 14-year-old and if I had to put my voice in a catergory, it would definately be contralto. and yes you guessed it, Im still a silent singer. I suppose I've never wanted to show off my voice - once I had a little singing competition with my friends, I won all the votes singing 'I love you' by Celine Dion but later my 'best friend' told me it was only because I was most of those people's best friends and that half of them didn't know who to vote for (I have no idea if this is true or not but it affected me). Since then, I've found it imposible to sing in any circumstance. The only singing I've done really is for my piano exams - the last piano exam I took, I got 17/18 for aural, which shocked me so much.Since then I've been experimenting with my voice and (very quietly!!) singing in the car, around my friends, while playing piano and guitar - everywhere I can really. There have been some dark moments where tell myself I can't sing for my life, and other moments (maybe even darker, I seriously don't know if I'm a good singer or not!) where I love my voice. Lately I've been looking out for any choirs and I'm starting a band with my friend where I'm the main vocalist. Wish me luck!Compliments on my voice? Well, whilst singing an african song with a large group, I've been told by a musician and a singing teacher or two from the Guildhall school of music that I have a lovely voice, which made me blush!Anyway hope more members join up, this looks like a promising community. _9:07 pm_[suddensilence] | Well, I suppose I'll start it out then! Hello! Welcome to SilentSingers! :) I'm Hailey. I'm the mod. woot! haha ANYWHO! Since rule #1 is no off topic posts, I should start with the voice related chit chat. :)I myself am currently recovering from my "Silent Singer" status... haha I've been a silent singer since I was abotu 10 when I was singing and my mother told me to- (direct quote) "Shut up! You sound terrible!"Ever since then, I've been terrified of my voice- or atleast of sharing it. It wasnt until my sophomore year (I'm about to start my senior year) that I started to break out of my nervousness haha. We had to do a voice test for our choir grad standard. I'll admit, I was so terrified of it, that I actually cried (a little!) in my choir directors' office. In the end, I did it. And I got a perfect score- something I hadnt expected. (actually, I'd expected to fail lol) So since then, I've been working on my confidence and trying to sing more. I'm getting better at it. I actually worked up the courage to audition for one of the more elite choirs at my school and actually got in! I probably dont need to say that that was pleasently surprising! lol and just this past month I performed at a recital that my voice lesson instructor. (I sang "I'm Not That Girl" from the musical Wicked)One woman (the mother of a new fround friend actually) commented to me once I was finished- she said "I loved your voice! You were great! I only wish you would've sang a little louder so I could hear you better." I swear I was redder than a tomato just then! lol I didnt really know how to take a compliment like that. Now my goal for this coming school year (my last one!) is to try out for atleast one musical and 2 solos in choir. As for my goals in this community, I hope that any who join come with goals that others here can help you achieve and maybe some of you can push me a little to achieve mine. hahaAnyway! Welcome again! I hope you all have fun and learn and gain confidence here!~Hailey Current Mood: accomplished (Comment on this) |
