Late to the party, as always. I bring a stealth item to the table.The following text is extracted from a booklet I unearthed by accident among my mountains of junk in the house (family of serious packrats, we are), dating back to my days in school uniform. The publisher's notice does say that no part of the booklet may be reproduced without permission, but they were giving them out for free (in a secular single-sex school, I note), so I really don't see any ethical objection to my putting it up for discussion. I do have my own thoughts about it, but I'd like to hear others' opinions unprejudiced by my own.What every teen should know about homosexualitySinclair RogersUnderstanding HomosexualityLifelinks Limited, 1999( extractCollapse ) | |

Economics Thesis E-interviews: Participation needed! | [Dec. 23rd, 2005|12:34 pm]::singafemmes::the feminist response in singapore |
---|---|
Hi all, Lilin Teo is working on her undergrad thesis and she emailed me to post this blurb here. Please do email her at lilin.teo@gmail.com and participate!++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Lilin says:I'm actually working on my final year thesis at the moment and will need some help from Singaporeans and people currently or previously residing in Singapore. It won't take up too much of their time. Basically it will be an e-interview or a face to face interview, depending on their preference. I'm still an undergraduate so I'm afraid I can't offer them anything in return for their help. I could pay for the coffee or cakes during the face to face interviews but other than that, I can't offer them any other rewards for their time. The interviews are a series of about 6 main questions (with some little ones) on the attitudes and behaviours of Singaporeans and those currently residing or previously residing in Singapore towards socially-responsible firms and their products. (Socially responsible here means things like green-products, fair-trade, no-animal-testing, sweatshop-free, etcetera). The purpose of the interviews is to uncover as much information as possible on the view of residents of Singapore towards these firms and their products and then to later use the information to formulate a questionnaire. I need to first conduct an interview so as to learn what is relevant and what is not to the residents of Singapore. Having a questionnaire and finding significant results is really quite silly if you're actually testing the wrong variables in the first place so the information from the interviews will be used to point the questionnaire in the right direction. The information will be reported in my thesis which will probably only be seen by my advisor and the markers. It will be completed end February and should they wish, I can mail the report to them. Anonymity is guaranteed. Only I will know who said what. Transcripts of the interviews will also be made available should they wish to read them. The e-interviews will be conducted over email and I need committed participants. I'm hoping to close the interviews by end December/first week January so I'll need them to reply to questions at least once every 2 days. I'm not looking for any specific information (as mentioned earlier) so feel free to write as much as you want and to voice any opinions that you have. There are no right or wrong answers. The point of the exercise is to find ALL information and ALL opinions whatever they may be. The face to face interviews will be about 2 hours long and food and drink will be provided. They will be taped for the purpose of later writing out the dialogue into a readable transcript.They can email me at this address: lilin.teo@gmail.com with their interest. | |

greetings vagina warriors!!! (pardon me but i am so hooked up with Eve Ensler),as you may know through the previous entry, i have this wildest thought that we, the community of SingaFemmes has to start doing something that is deeply related to our gender. V-Day wouldnt be anymore sooner than next year Feb or so but before February starts to kick in, we need to do some brainstorming. VDay is a day filled with emotion & thoughts for the girls/women who are constantly abuse mentally or physically. it's a play originated by Eve Ensler. So, on the show of hands, who would really be interested to give a shot on this big event? I need major help here cause i can't do it myself. Afterall, we have to unite as one!!!PLEASE!!!!!!!!(once i have enough pple on this, we shall meet up at anywhere to discuss further!) | |

Re-making Singapore: the homosexuality thread (/ "threat")? | [Aug. 24th, 2005|05:33 pm]::singafemmes::the feminist response in singapore |

I discovered this while truncating library searches for my women's studies assignment on cyber-bodies and suicide. I don't know if any of you have heard of this forum or read about it in the newspapers or magazines back then (the forum seems to run for a while in July 2002). In any case, here is the link to the interesting forum thread. http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/5738/yax-282.htm | |
