This research identifies the strategies which should be considered by companies in branded apps design. We illustrate five business objectives: communication, customer relationship management, sales, product innovation and marketing research. A M-U-S-T Mix method is proposed to specify how mobile features (M), use of brand mention elements (U), social features (S) and type of applications elements (T) should be used to develop branded apps. The types of branded apps are classified as tool-centric, game-centric, social-centric, m-commerce-centric and design-centric apps. Extensive examples of branded apps are given to illustrate the best practice of these strategies.

This system extends our previous work on event based consumer mashups and is inspired by research on popular social network applications. Dig-Event provides an open, social space for users to share events and discover the activity of mutual interest among social contacts like schoolmates, families, friends and colleagues. It allows users to share their activities to the customized social circle, conduct events by selecting activity-based gadgets, and socialize around them. The features of event recommendation and integration with existing social networks further boost the event socialization experience.

In this demo we aim to explore the idea of activity-oriented social networks. We design a novel social networking site called Dig-Event (Do-it-together Event), where people are able to share events through calendar, while discover interesting events shared by others. Our demo has been inspired by previous research on calendaring and popular social network applications like Facebook and Google+. It allows users to share their activities to the customized social circle, conduct events by selecting activity-based gadgets. The features of event recommendation and integration with existing social networks further boost the event socialization experience.
