Dining Chairs [17 Nov 2008|10:45am]
At our house we are on the search for the perfect dining room chairs. It has proved to be an elusive task as Ben and I are both pretty picky, don't like to spend a lot of money on things unless they are timeless, and prefer to buy things used. We did however spot these beauties in the West Elm catalog and despite the fact that they don't totally fit the above criteria, are the frontrunners. Now, does anyone have a couple hundred dollars to spare?

Ashmae [13 Nov 2008|09:15am]
Ashmae's profile speaks to her work better than I can: "The day i was born, a blizzard bigger than my parents had ever seen filled the sky and deep snow fell on the roof of the small brick house I would later write about in poems. I love the sky the night before a snow, when it is pink and safe, and the whole world is quiet. I almost always miss home, even when i am there. I want to make art that will change someone somewhere."

I'm on Cloud Nine [05 Nov 2008|09:54am]
I'm on cloud nine this morning because I am hopeful about the next President we've elected. It is very inspiring to me that a whole segment of people who felt they couldn't achieve everything they ever wanted now know they can. That the world will support them. Amazing. This patchwork cloud is a little reminder that we can rise up from gloomy prospects. Made with found materials including a vintage blanket and cheery yellow fabrics, I think this cloud would look great hanging in a window as a token reminder that we can keep the rain clouds of oppression at bay and hopefully abolish them altogether.
