Frederick G. Ross, actor and business manager for Lillian Russell was born in San Francisco, California in 1858. He began his stage career in 1879 appearing with actors such as James O'Neill, Edwin Booth, Ada Cavendish, John Drew and Joseph Jefferson. Leaving the stage, he became business manager for stars such as Lillian Russell, Fritzi Scheff, Margaret Anglin, Henry Miller and Rose Coghlan. He died in Long Island, New York in 1942.

Born in San Francisco, California, Frederick G. Ross began his stage career there in 1879, as a member of the Grand Opera House's permanent stock company. In the course of his acting career he worked with many of the prominent theatrical names of the era, including Edwin Booth, Maurice Barrymore, Mrs. John Drew, Joseph Jefferson, Ava Cavendish, James O'Neill, and Adelaide Neilson. During the 1890's Mr. Ross switched from acting to business management of stage plays and individual performers, including Lillian Russell.
