Zernov was a lecturer at Oxford University and the author of "The Russian Religious Renaissance of the 20th Century"; his sister Sofii︠a︡ was active in the Russkoe Khristi︠a︡nskoe Studencheskoe Dvizhenie (Russian Christian Student Movement); his sister Maria was married to Gustave Kullmann who was a Swiss and an official of the League of Nations and the United Nations; their parents were Stepan I. and Sofii︠a︡ A. Zernov.
