He worked as a theatre critic for The Times and the New Times, and contributed to several newspapers and literary magazines throughout his lifetime, including the Literary Gazette and Blackwood's Magazine. Croly's poetry, such as in his Paris in 1815 (1817), often appropriated a Byronic style, infusing it with tory politics.
