Joseph S. Reynolds was an attorney and real estate dealer, in Augusta and Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta he worked for the firm of Reynolds and Whitman. His offices were located in the Candler Building and the Atlanta Trust Company Building. Reynolds owned commercial real estate property in several states, including Georgia, North Carolina, and Missouri. In 1920, his net worth was estimated at over $250,000. During World War I, Reynolds volunteered in the Speakers Bureau for the Georgia Division of the United War Work Campaign, and for the Salvation Army Home Services Fund. Reynolds was married to Francis (Fannie) Reynolds and the couple had three children, Carolyn Louise, Mary, and Joseph. Reynolds and his family lived in Augusta, Georgia prior to moving to Atlanta in 1916 where they stayed until at least 1928. In 1927 Reynold's daughter Carolyn Louise married Stephens Mitchell, the brother of Atlanta author Margaret Mitchell. Carolyn died in 1950. Further biographical information on Joseph S. Reynolds and his immediate family has not been determined.
