Indiana politician Jack New was born in Greenfield, Ind. He was active with the Indiana Democratic State Central Committee, the Young Democrats, and the Hancock County (Ind.) Council. He was Governor Matthew Welsh's administrative assistant, served three terms as the State Treasurer, and was the Democratic candidate for governor in 1976.
