James Lord is an American art critic and writer, who has lived in France since 1945. He is the author of several works on the artist Alberto Giacometti, including Alberto Giacometti Drawings (1971), A Giacometti Portrait (1980), Giacometti: A Biography (1985), and Mythic Giacometti (2004); and memoirs and portraits of the art and literary world, including Picasso and Dora: A Personal Memoir (1993), Six Exceptional Women: Further Memoirs (1994), and Some Remarkable Men: Further Memoirs (1996).
