Third Governor of New South Wales. Was Superintendent at Norfolk Island from 1788 and in 1791 was appointed Lieutenant-governor of Norfolk Island.

Captain King was commandant and later Lieut. Governor of Norfolk Island from 1788 to 1779. He took up appointment as Governor of N.S.W. in September 1800.
