Peace and Disarmament Committee of the Women's International Organisations; founded September 1931, informally called the Women's Disarmament Committee, formally called the Disarmament Committee of the Women's International Organisations; changed name in 1935 to Peace and Disarmament Committee of the Women's International Organisations; formed to promote the Conference for the Reduction and Limitation of Armaments (1932-1934, Geneva, Switzerland); called itself the "greatest concerted action for peace ever undertaken by women"; had between twelve and fourteen constituent women's international organizations and five national organizations, including the International Council of Women, the World's Young Women's Christian Association, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and the League of Jewish Women; associated national consultative members included the National Committee on the Cause and Cure of War (U.S.) and the Women's Peace Crusade (Great Britain); headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland; President was Mary A. Dingman; ceased operation around 1940.
