Jacob Gould Schurman was born May 22, 1854 on Prince Edward Island. He was Professor of Philosophy at Acadia College and Dalhousie College; Cornell University's Sage Professor of Philosophy, 1886-92, and President, 1892-1920; President of the first U.S. Philippine Commission, 1899; U.S. Minister to Greece and Montenegro during the Balkan Wars; and was a diplomat involved with foreign policy making in China, the Far East, and Germany. Albert Einstein was born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. Six weeks later the family moved to Munich, where he later on began his schooling at the Luitpold Gymnasium. Later, they moved to Italy and Albert continued his education at Aarau, Switzerland and in 1896 he entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich to be trained as a teacher in physics and mathematics.
