Abstract

Summary: Photocopies of the complete transcripts, copied from the National Archives, for the case of United States vs. Mark R. Cunningham, et.al., a trial of the suspects in the 1889 Wham Payroll Robbery. The transcripts are separated into Volume 1, 2, 3 and 4. There are indexes to witnesses for each volume. Correspondence is mostly from W.K. Meade, U.S. Marshal, William Herring, Attorney, Harry R. Jeffords, U.S. Attorney, and Joseph Wham and relates to court issues. There is also testimony from D.W. Wickersham, Dan Ming, J.H. Campbell, A.H. Emanuel, and others during jury selection. They answer questions about themselves and their property. The trial testimony includes several "Buffalo Soldiers" as witnesses for the prosecution including Isiah Mays and James Young. Another witness was C.S. Fly, noted Tombstone photographer.
