Abstract

Manuscripts of papers read before the New-York Historical Society; seven notebooks, mostly containing copies of reports on the Revolutionary War from contemporary newspapers; a few miscellaneous notes on historical subjects; and an engraved map showing the operations of the King's Army in New York under the command of Sir William Howe, taken from Charles Stedman's The history of the origin, progress, and termination of the American war. The papers are: The life, character, etc. of the Marquis de la Rouerie, Col. Armand; The Westchester Guides in the War of Revolution; The neutral ground; The Battle of White Plains; The Danbury expedition; The capture of Pound Ridge; Col. Delancey's final departure; The operations and skirmishes of the British and American armies in 1776, before the Battle of White Plains.
