Pairings: none
Length: 493 words
Summary: Sokka and Katara find some time to have some fun in the days of the war before they find Aang.
Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender otherwise there would have been a lot more scenes with Ty Lee showing off her pink aura.
Author's Notes: I wrote this for glockgal who posted a list of things she'd like to see more drawings/fics of. I chose her prompt of 'Sokka+Katara sibling antics'. I hope you like it, glockgal!

"Katara! Katara!" Sokka called as he ran through the freshly fallen snow towards his younger sister.

Katara looked up at hearing her older brother shouting her name. "What is it, Sokka?" she asked once he had reached her.

Sokka bent over, his hands on his knees, and started panting as he tried to catch his breath.

"I was training the men," he started, once he caught his breath, "and I-" He broke off when he saw what Katara was doing.

"You're not trying to play with magic water again, are you, Katara?" he asked.

Her face flushed. "It's called waterbending, Sokka, and so what if I am?" she asked defensively. "It's not like I avoid my responsibilities or anything."

"You're right, you're right," Sokka mumbled. "Sorry, I'm sure you'll get better at it some day," he apologized quickly.

Katara brushed a stray hair out of her face and nodded, accepting his apology. They had had this conversation many times before. "What is it you were going to tell me?" she asked her brother.

He shook his head, "Nothing, never mind." An idea popped into his head and, a huge grin spreading across his face, he asked, "You know, how about we go out in the boat? Just for a short ride, get away for awhile...."

She shook her head and put her hands on her hips in exasperation. "Sokka," she started, "You are the most irresponsible person I know. First you act all upset that I'm 'playing with magic water' and now you want to go out for a boat ride? What is wrong with you? Sometimes I don't know how we can possibly be re-"

A snowball hit her squarely in the face and she gasped in surprise before wiping the snow off of her face. "Oh, you are so going to get it for that, Sokka," she said, grinning mischievously. Then she bent down and started scooping up snow to throw one at Sokka who already had a small arsenal of them prepared.

The two siblings played in the snow for the rest of the afternoon, throwing snowballs at each other and dodging them, and then taking a break to making snowmen and snow angels when they grew tired. Of course, Sokka found a way to bring it back to a snowball fight.

As the sun began to set, they called a truce and headed back home for dinner. As they walked, Sokka put his arm around Katara's shoulders. "You know, Katara," he said, "I may call it 'playing' and 'magic water', but that doesn't mean I don't think you're going to figure out how to waterbend someday."

Katara smiled at her brother. "Thanks, Sokka," she told him. "And I think that someday, you're going to be more than just the one who trains the 'men' of our tribe. I have a feeling you're going to make all of us proud."

"We're both going to make our tribe proud," Sokka corrected.
