Mallory Cerkleski

Mallory Cerkleski has a dual Bachelor's degree in Sustainable Food Systems and Political Science from Guilford College (2020). She earned her Master's in Food Innovation and Management from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in 2023, specializing in Modern and Contemporary History under the mentorship of Dr. Gabriele Proglio in which she wrote her thesis, "Multifaceted Memories: Oral History of Cuban Citizens on Food, Justice, and Future Imaginaries."

Currently a Ph.D. student at Scuola Normale Superiore in History, Mallory's research focuses on a comparative history of communist food systems in Cuba and Kerala. Her methodology integrates oral history and archival research.

Mallory's research interests include socialist and communist food systems, food sovereignty, land grabbing, contemporary food history, food justice, and food memory studies. Notably, she explores how individuals construct subjectivity through food choices.
