chicago show [17 Nov 2003|08:26am]
[ mood | awake ] On Saturday I saw the Magnolia Electric Co. play in Chicago, at Schuba's. They played almost all new material, and even returned for a brief encore (which I hear is almost unheard of for Molina)-and closed with Hank Williams' "I Saw the Light." They also played one of Jenny's songs. Everyone in the group looked extremely happy to be there, and it made for a fun time. Molina mentioned that they would be up the street recording all week. A friend of a friend recorded the show off the soundboard-I think it'll take a little while for the recording to be available, but as soon as I know anything I'll let folks up here know what the plan is for it. Oh, and I'm not sure how many of you are at all close to Chicago, but Schuba's is a great place to see shows. Although it was sold out it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded and the people there weren't incredible bastards like at the Shins show, which I saw at the House of Blues earlier that evening.

Hellooo.. I'm new here, and I haven't been listening to Songs: Ohia that long either - but I'm learning, and loving mr Molina's music more every single day. I own Axxess and Ace, Magnolia Electric Co. and the Songs: Ohia/Morning Jacket Split-thingie - and wondering where to go next.. Have been recommended The Lioness and Mi Sei Apparso.. any opinions on which one of those I should get first? Thanks for your help :)
