sonomadiet (original) (raw)

| | hi everyone,my name is nadine and i'm a 23 year old fem from lexington, ky.today is my first day on the diet, i tried to start yesterday but there was this fudge, like hanging out on my coffee table. so i had a piece. so today is the day.i'm currently 180-ish lbs, not sure of the exact weight because the scale at my ymca is very unreliable.my goal weight for the end of wave 2 is 140-150lbs.once i get closer i'll have more of a deffinent goal.i think wave 1 will help me out a lot.i'm a former pastry chef, so really when the mood hits me i just whip up cakes, and that my sonoma friends, is just not acceptable.so hopefully i'll stop craving cakes and cookies and the like.how is the diet going with everyone else?where are you on the waves, and weight goals? I went to one of those small side stores that have magazines and what was on the shelf...A NEW MINI COOKBOOK FOR THE SONOMA DIET!So of course I bought it. It will be displayed until April 25th at most stores! There are some really good recipes in there! Can't wait to try them all. I have not even used all the recipes from the main book...I have now been on the diet 31 days and have lots 14 pounds!Any updates from others, I would love to hear about your successes!!Mood:happyhappy I started the Sonoma Diet March 6.I am surprised by the food. I can't believe that it is so flavorful and makes you so full!My husband tried some of the Chicken en Papillote and he loved it. The guy does not have a weight problem and he said, "Maybe I should go on a diet!!"For this first 10 days, I am finding it so hard to say no to sugar/products. My hubby and I go to Tim Horton's for coffee almost everyday, I had to switch to tea - well green tea. I tried stevia in my coffee (brought it from home) and I did not like the taste of it. So I am sticking with the tea. It will not kill me.I think this is the longest I have gone without any type of junk food. Last night my snack was grape tomatoes (and 28 peanuts). I have never eaten a grape tomato until last night. They were so good. I could not believe it!Mood:fullfull From the Sonoma Diet BookPage 185Start to finish: 20 minutesMakes: 2 servings1 large whole wheat pita bread round1 cup assorted fresh vegetables (such as bite-size red or yellow bell pepper strips, coarsely chopped broccoli or cauliflower florets, chopped zucchini or yellow summer squash, and/or chopped, seeded cucumber)1/4 cup Yogurt and Cucumber Sauce4 Ounces cooked skinless Chicken Breast, sliced1. The Sonoma Diet has something very similar, but labels them Waves. Personally, I find the terminology rather hoaky either way, but as long as it works, I'm willing to call it just about anything... and now for a mini-breakdown of the Waves...Wave 1, the most restrictive phase, lasts 10 days and is designed to help jumpstart weightloss and wean you off of sugars. During this Wave you'll eat lean proteins, non-starchy veggies, and whole grains. Fruit is verboten for these 10 days, and dairy is limited. Your chocolate and wine will also have to wait until Wave 2. During Wave 1 you'll be allowed almonds, olive oil, whole grain bread, whole grain cereal, whole wheat pasta, summer squash, broccoli, eggplant, celery, leafy greens, beans, pork, fish, beef, and chicken to name a few (a complete listing can be found in the book.)Wave 2 expands upon the items found in Wave 1, and is the primary weightloss stage. This wave lasts until you have reached your goal weight. During Wave 2 you'll be allowed everything from Wave 1 as well as yams, carrots, beets, most fruits, wine, and dark chocolate.Wave 3 is the maintenance stage and you are therefore allowed more latitude in your food choices. I don't have the book near me, but if I recall correctly beer is even allowed during this Wave.Tags:faq, food listsMood:sleepysleepyMusic:Clocks Ticking Welcome to the Sonoma Diet community here on LJ!
