The participants were fourth level English Diploma students at Languages and Translation Department at Arar College of Education and Arts in Saudi Arabia. Twenty-five fourth level English Diploma students participated as an experimental group. This group was pre-tested by using the Critical Reading Achievement Test (CRT) to assess their critical reading achievement before conducting the experiment. The experimental group was trained on using the WM to develop their critical reading achievement. The experimental group was post-tested by using the CRT. Then, they were tested by using the delayed CRT after one month of the post-CRT. The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the mean scores of the experimental group between the pre-and post-CRT in favor of the post-CRT. The results also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the mean scores of the experimental group between the post-and the delayed CRT. The results indicated the usefulness of using the WM in developing English Diploma students' critical reading achievement.

It adopted the quasi experimental design which included two groups design. The participants were first level students at Languages and Translation Department, Arar Faculty of Education and Arts, Northern Border University, KSA. They formed two groups: an experimental group (n = 40) and a control one (n = 40). Both groups were pre-tested by using the pre Vocabulary Achievement Test (VAT) for equivalence in vocabulary prior to the treatment. The researcher taught the experimental group throughout the sessions that based on using the VSSPlus in vocabulary learning and she taught vocabulary to the control group by using the Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS). Then, the researcher post tested the two groups by using the post VAT and she used the t-test to calculate the differences between the mean scores...

It employed a quasi-experimental design that included a one group design. The participants (n = 45) were all fifth level students at Languages and Translation Department, Arar Faculty of Education and Arts, Northern Border University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They were pre-tested before the treatment by using the pre Personal Responsibility Orientation to Self-Direction in Learning Scale (PRO-SDLS). They were post-tested after the treatment by using the post PRO-SDLS. The researcher taught the participants during the treatment which based on allowing them to use Edmodo in carrying out a project. The results revealed that a statistically significant difference in the participants’ SDL between the pre PRO-SDLS and the post PRO-SDLS in favor of the post PRO-SDLS. Hence, it can be concluded that Edmodo helped the participants develop thei...

The participants were fourth year prospective EFL teachers at Suez Faculty of Education in Egypt. Thirty prospective EFL teachers participated in each of the experimental and control groups. Both groups were pre-tested by using the Writing Performance Test (WPT) for equivalence in their writing performance. The experiment was conducted at the beginning of the first term of the academic year 20092010. The experimental group and the control group were post-tested by using the WPT. Differences between the mean scores of the preand post-WPT were calculated by using the t-test. The results showed that statistically significant differences were found between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group on the post-WPT in favor of the experimental group. The results also revealed that there were statistically significan...

The WebQuest has gained popularity as a frequent topic of discussion at the field of education. It is used to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support students' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.

It was a quasi-experimental study which was based on a one group design. The participants were 40 second level Languages and Translation Department at Arar faculty of education and arts, Northern Border University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They were pre-tested before the treatment by using the Reading Comprehension Test (RCT). They were post-tested after the treatment by using the post-RCT. The researcher taught the participants during the treatment which was based on doing shadow-reading strategy to develop reading comprehension. Difference between the pre-RCT and the post-RCT was calculated by using the t-test. The result showed that a statistically significant difference was found between the pre-RCT and the post-RCT in favor of the post-RCT. The result revealed the effectiveness of using shadow-reading strategy in developing second level students' reading comprehension. Therefore, it can be concluded that shadow-reading strategy helped

The results also showed that a statistically significant difference was found in the mean scores of the experimental group between the pre and post VAT in favor of the post VAT. Therefore, it was concluded that the experimental group outperformed the control group on the post VAT as a result of receiving training on the VSSPlus. It was also concluded that the experimental group performed better on the post VAT than the pre VAT because the VSSPlus helped them develop vocabulary. Some recommendations and suggestions for further research were provided.

The participants were first year General Secondary Stage students at Asmaa' Bint Abi Bakr General Secondary School for Girls in Suez Governorate in Egypt. Twenty four first year General Secondary Stage students participated in each of the experimental and control groups. Both groups were pre-tested by using the Critical Reading Performance Test (CRT) for equivalence in their critical reading performance. The researcher trained the experimental group on using the WM to develop their critical reading performance. The experiment was conducted at the very beginning of the second term of the school year 2008-2009. The experimental group and the control group were post-tested by using the CRT. Results showed that statistically significant differences were found between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group on the post-CRT in favor of the experimental group. Results also revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the mean scores of the experimental group between the pre-and post-CRT in favor of the post-CRT. Results indicated the effectiveness of using the WebQuest in developing General Secondary Stage students' critical reading performance. It is recommended that curriculum designers, teacher-trainers and textbook writers have to focus on providing strategies based on using the WebQuest in teaching all language skills to General Secondary Stage students. Suggestions include investigating the effect of using the WebQuest on General Secondary Stage students' writing performance and writing apprehension.

It employed the quasi-experimental design which included two groups: an experimental group (n = 44) and a control group (n = 44). The participants were EFL preparatory year students at Arar Branch, Northern Border University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Before conducting the treatment, the experimental group and the control group were pre-tested by using the pre Listening Comprehension Test (LCT) for equivalence of listening comprehension. By the end of the treatment, the experimental group and the control group were post-tested by using the post LCT. The t-test was used to calculate the differences between the mean scores of the pre and post LCT. The results showed that a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group on the post LCT in favor of the experimental group. The results also revealed that a statistically significant difference was found in the mean scores of the experimental group between the pre and post LCT in favor of the post LCT. Thus, it can be concluded that the audiobooks helped the experimental group develop listening comprehension as they exceeded the control group on the post LCT and they achieved a better result on the post LCT than the pre LCT.
