| | Thursday, December 16th, 2004 2:20p - Tracing a Failed Logon Running SQL Server 2000, and was skimming my SQL logs today when I saw records indicating failed logon attempts. However, nothing that we have now actually tells me where this failed logon attempt originated from, making such an alert utterly useless to me. I've looked high and low in SQL Server's regular log files, and in Windows 2000 Server's log files. Both have records indicating that a failed logon occurred, but give no further details, driving me up a wall.I want to know if there's any way to set up SQL Server to log either a PC Hostname or IP address in the case of a failed login attempt. I'm currently researching and experimenting with Traces right now, using Event 20 (Failed Logon)... but in experimenting with the various column choices, NONE of them seem to actually record the originating hostname or IP address! Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!
