Squidathon (original) (raw)

It's all been quiet on the Squidathon front this year, so I wasn't sure if people would be interested. I plan to Anti-Nano, although I haven't set any goals yet (should probably get to work on that...). Anyone else want to join in?

I'm so tired this morning. Stayed up stupidly late after getting up stupidly early on Sunday. It's making it very hard to fake being interested in work. Blah. Anyway. New week! What's everyone planning? I stumbled across this call for submissions which I'm pretty keen on having a crack at. I've got a sort of idea...I started thinking some stuff up last night, but fell asleep watching weird YouTube videos which sort of interfered with the creative process...Still, I'm pretty sure I have something so maybe I'll start on that this week.

Anyone else up to/planning anything?

I guess belated because I didn't post last Friday or this Monday, because I was off work and therefore my days had no structure.

Anyway! How's the week been? I've done no writing, but I've signed contracts and filled in cover art sheets, and I'm now tentatively leaning towards starting a new Ethan novel instead of the southern gothic UF I was planning to start. I've been listening to my Ethan Banning playlist a lot recently and it's kind of fired me up to do some horrible stuff to him. So maybe over the weekend I'll make a start on that (although Kyle is saying we need to spring clean the house, so ugh, maybe not).

What's everyone else been doing/got planned?

How are we all? This has been another no-writing week for me, but I'm hoping to start a new project soon...I was pretty sure I knew what it would be, but now it's looking pretty likely I'll be signing a contract for Undertow soon, I feel like I should try Ethan #3 again. Anyway! I actually don't plan to do any writing this weekend. I'm off work until Tuesday and I think my time is largely going to be split between perfume-making and recovering from the trauma of getting my hair cut today.

How's the week been for everyone else? Any plans forthcoming?

I'm really hoping to get some writing done this week, as the boss is in Malaysia and can't see what I'm doing, but I'm feeling pretty floundery on what to work on. I've realised I'm not really that into The Rosewood Heiress and I am feeling in the mood for some "everything but the kitchen sink" urban fantasy (probably because that's what I'm reading right now), but ideas are not happening. I have like one line of a new Ethan novel, but I don't want to start anything until I've heard back about Undertow. So I just feel back in that limbo of "oh, I want to write, but what?"

Meh. Hopefully everyone else is a bit more decisive than me. How was the weekend and what are you planning for the week ahead?

How's everyone's week been? I submitted Phantom Fears to Evernight and did some work on a new wip, although I've been feeling a bit "meh" about that for the past couple of days, so I don't really know what the future holds for that. Part of me is itching to get stuck into an Ethan novel, part of me wants to do some wild and wacky world building with something completely new, and part of me just wants to say fuck it and eat candied ginger all weekend. So we'll see how that turns out...

Anyone else up to anything writing-wise? Or at least wanting to be?!

I've got a little something from an urban fantasy-ish wip I've restarted this week.

How was the weekend? I spent some time reading through a couple of short projects I'd started and abandoned last year, and decided to have a crack at finishing one of them. It's an urban fantasy-ish thing and I added about 1k to it on Saturday that I was quite happy with. So that's going to be my focus while I let some bigger ideas for longer projects percolate.

What's on everyone else's agenda?

Happy Friday! I finished Phantom Fears! I'm going to make Kyle read it and tell me if it's shite or not, and then I might ask a couple of other people to take a look too. I don't know what to work on next. Part of me wants to keep working on short pieces because they feel "safe" and part of me wants to start a new Ethan novel. I don't know! I might just wait until I've edited and submitted Phantom Fears before I decide.

What's everyone else been up to this week? Any plans for the weekend?

Okay, I'm almost definitely not going to finish the Shannon novella today as I'd hoped, but I should be able to finish over the weekend if I don't have to be, like, sociable or friendly or whatever. Here's a tiny bit of what I got done today:
