The opening quotation is a popular saying by sociologists and it
suggests the fact that whatever problem you see in a society is
produced by the social structure of the society i.e. the problems
inherent in a society is a reflection of the structure of the society,
Nigeria as a whole and northern Nigeria in particular has been
pervaded by arrays of social problems which are inherent in the
social structure and setting of the society. Social problems are
generally vast but the concern in this inaugural lecture is on the
menace of poverty in northern Nigeria. The region “northern
Nigeria” is trapped in a web of vicious cycle of poverty and this
has affected the performance of the region in the development
arena.

Developed by OpenAI in November 2022, ChatGPT has been trained on a vast corpus of internet text, making it a powerful tool for generating human-like text responses across various prompts. The literature review conducted for this paper focused on peer-reviewed articles indexed in Scopus, as well as high-impact research journals like ERIC, Science Direct, and JSTOR, published within the last five years (2020-2024). In addressing three key research questions, the paper relies on relevant AI-generated data provided by ChatGPT: the accuracy of ChatGPT's generated texts, the relevance of its responses to specific literature review themes, and guidelines for using ChatGPT content in literature reviews while upholding academic integrity. A quasi-qualitative research approach was employed for analysis, involving a thorough examination of sources, a deeper understanding of phenomena, and critical evaluation of data to support the research questions. The findings contribute insights into leveraging ChatGPT for literature reviews while minimizing the risks of the technology and maximizing its benefits.

Thus, researchers and health commentators have spoken and written extensively about the health and social ills of the virus, arguing that the disease has disrupted the global economy, halt international and domestic movements, and impose self-isolation, quarantine, and lockdown. This article looks at the COVID-19 phenomenon from postmodernism perspective. The paper argues that the western approach to curtailing COVID-19 should not apply to the Nigerian context for a simple reason: Because the two countries are different. Nigeria, as a sovereign state with its African heritage and belief system, should devise different measures to halting the spread of COVID-19, not copy-paste the western version. Through secondary data analysis, the paper concludes that as few western societies boast of their technological development, coronavirus has reminded the world that modern technological know-how, while they are effective in some way, cannot remedy a pandemic. Different ideas and opinions of people from different cultural backgrounds are needed to curtail the scourge of COVID-19. Thus, in the wake of a pandemic like this, our world needs unity, love, and specific kinds of knowledge that are useful for solving specific health and social problems.

This article looks at the COVID-19 phenomenon in different angle. Using the theory of postmodernism, the paper argues that COVID-19 has brought some social goods: It has busted the myth of science as the universal truth, shows that irrationality of human behavior, and proves that medical knowledge cannot cure every ailment. International Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities Reviews Vol.9 No.1, January 2019; p.320 – 329, (ISSN: 2276-8645) , 2019

More particularly, the economic growth of Africa's largest economy, Nigeria, is also non-inclusive. The country's economic growth does not translate into economic opportunities for its people. Youths, who are the dominant demographic cohort in the region, are idle, jobless, and poor. To address this problem, this study explores the link between bad governance and youth unemployment and political violence in Nigeria. Using Habermas' theory of the public sphere, the study argues that the dictatorial, "representational culture" of governance that Nigeria assumes serves as a boon to youth unemployment and political violence in the country. Through secondary data analysis, the study founds that as few powerful elites become active, they, in turn, are subjugating their subjects-the majority of whom are youths-to passivity. As a result, the subjects feel marginalized in their own land, with no voice, job, and hope-thus taking arms against their leaders and against their own state.

Through the application of Structural Functionalism, a classical sociological theory developed by Emile Durkheim (1858-1917), we studied the meaning, characteristics, and the impact of the knowledge economy in terms of its contribution to the socioeconomic growth of Third World societies, including its function in meeting the "social prerequisites" of Nigerian society, in particular. In this paper, we summarize our findings of the structural foundations for building a knowledge-based economy in the context of Nigeria, through qualitative data, using Israel's knowledgebased economic achievements as a case study.

Existing studies on the subject has offered a descriptive analysis on the nature, intensity, and the degree of ethnicity and politics of ethnicity in Nigeria; however, their analyses only highlighted skewed reporting that is bereft of deep intellectual rigorousity. Through the application of Mills’ sociological imagination, we offered a holistic approach for understanding the phenomenon by combining both the personal choices of individuals and the overall social issues of the Nigerian society to explain the causes and consequences of ethnic politics in the country. This paper seeks to provide insights into the significance of uniting micro and macro-social forces for a clear understanding of ethnic politics, which is a crucial problem bedeviling Nigerian society today. We argue that analyzing social issues through the lenses of sociological imagination would allow the Nigerian people to think of ethnic politics from an alternative point of view, which may influence them to act upon their situations in their own right and work for changing their society for the better.
