The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors influencing access to credit services by wom... more The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors influencing access to credit services by women entrepreneurs in Kenya; a case of Isiolo town. Entrepreneurship has been regarded as a major contributing factor to the economic growth and poverty alleviation both in urban and rural areas. Organizations for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reports indicate growing phenomena of women entrepreneurship both in developed and developing countries. In some countries, women-owned businesses are increasing at a very rapid pace in terms of both numbers and turnover. The scope of the study was selected from financial lending institutions in Isiolo County and women entrepreneurs targeting those who are members or have accounts in these financial institutions. There are 6 registered FIs operating within the Isiolo town which has a total of 18 management employees and 20 registered women entrepreneurs. The researcher conducted a census on the FIs managers and as well as women entrepreneurs in Isiolo town from the target population. To analyze the data, the researcher applied the chi-square testing the hypothesis of the study. The study recommends that the financial institutions should establish lending procedures which will attract women entrepreneurs and accommodate them in access of credit. It also recommended that the financial institutions should encourage the use of affordable collaterals that will ensure that women entrepreneurs are able to access credit. Lack of affordability collateral was one of the challenges that was highlighted as hindrances to women accessing credit. The financial institutions should ensure that they train women entrepreneurs on investment opportunities in order to increase purposes of credit for women entrepreneurs. This will ensure women entrepreneurs will always have a purpose to do with credit advanced to them by financial institutions.

The main purpose of the study was to establish factors influencing implementation of intergrated ... more The main purpose of the study was to establish factors influencing implementation of intergrated financial management information system in Kenya government ministries. Establishment of an IFMIS has become an important benchmark for the country's budget reform agenda often regarded as a precondition for achieving effective management of budgetary resources. The study was carried out in Ministry of Finance, Meru County. It covered all the management employees' cadres. There are 24 management levels employees in the whole county who includes the district accountants, the internal auditors, and the vote book controllers. The study adopted descriptive research design. The researcher applied correlation analysis to analyze the collected data generated by using SPSS, which provided a correlation coefficient between the variables. Inadequate funding was highlighted as challenge that is impeding the implementation of IFMIS. The study found that the cost of implementation was a challenge. It is therefore recommended that the ministry of finance should increase the budget for IFMIS implementation in order to roll out the program in all government ministries.

The objective of Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies (SACCO’s) is members’ empowerment thro... more The objective of Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies (SACCO’s) is members’ empowerment through savings mobilization, disbursement of credit and ensuring long-term sustainability through prudent financial practices. However, SACCO’s encounter challenges in promoting quality financial management practices in Kenya such as limited capital, sources of funds, credit risks management and negative cash liquidity, poor governance and very low credit accessibility. There has been a continuous decline in access to credit in SACCO’s for three consecutive years. The objective of this study is to find out the influence of products range on credit accessibility in SACCO’s in Imenti North Sub-County, Kenya. The study targeted management level employees of SACCO’s as the respondents. Descriptive research design and a census sample design were used in this study. The findings of this study revealed that credit accessibility in SACCO’S is positively influenced by product range. These findings were both supported by the frequencies of the responses from the respondents which were presented in the form of percentages and mean scores. The study recommended that SACCO’s should start investing in products innovation in order to ensure that they have a wide range of products which are tailor made to suit their client’s needs. This will increase the level of credit accessed and increase profitability of the SACCO’s.

This is a constitutional office established under article 233 of the constitution of Kenya
2010. Its mandate includes recruiting for the public service, promoting public officers,
handling appeals on disciplinary matters, approving retirements and abating pensions;
and setting and maintaining standards in the public sector. It established the mission and
a vision as any other government department as partner in creating a non-partisan
public service that offers quality service and holds the nation together for socio-economic
growth to avail a steady supply of highly competent personnel for efficient and effective
service to the people of Kenya. The main objective of this article is to increase knowledge
on the ongoing reforms in public service recruitment and more specifically to discuss the
role of public service commission in recruitment of civil servant, the benefits of ongoing
recruitment reforms in the public service and to the challenges of implementing
recruitment reforms in public service. Recruitment into the civil service seems to be more
complex, cumbersome and complicated because of numerous guidelines and procedures.
Public service recruitment is the process through which suitable candidates are induced
to compete for appointment into government jobs and this process should be done
professionally and taking into consideration the provisions of the constitution of Kenya
2010.
