IntroductIon & overvIew Evidence of statistically significant earnings discrimination for lawyers... more IntroductIon & overvIew Evidence of statistically significant earnings discrimination for lawyers based on gender is not surprising, due to the fact that many studies have recently shown that wage discrimination based on gender has not demised. 1 Vigorous debates have continued recently even in popular culture, such as the conversations by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO, who incited a new conversation on feminism in the workplace with her book, Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead. 2 This reinvigoration of the women's movement was welcomed by us, as we wish to assist in keeping the movement alive for the foreseeable future. Though the topic of gender pay discrimination is ever present today, measuring the gender pay gap often proves difficult to calculate. It is generally suggested that the wage gap is due to a variety of causes, such as differences in the types of positions held by men and women, differences in work experience, differences in the pay of jobs men typically go into as opposed to women, and breaks in employment, often due to childbearing
