Kirk liked talking things through, cataloguing events calmed him; probably something he abused the Captain's Log for and why bartenders would love him if he weren't prone to starting brawls.

"The nature of how the drug works isn't even known to those who use it in medical practice. Whilst harmless to most species and acting as a vaccine for certain strands of flu virus, our science team are currently unable to predict the full effect it has on humans. As we can't trace the origin of the vaccine, we're awaiting results from our own, more advanced research methods, as well as the post-mortem of Ensign O'Brien. For now, the affected members of the landing party and myself remain under observation."

Punching a button, Kirk sighed and lounged back in his Captain's chair, looking out the viewing screen at the planet looming before them. Although the planet's population were able to assimilate the vaccine, the effect on a human body was unknown. They would just have to wait until they could figure out what was actually in this goddamn thing and whether or not it posed a threat to the health of the crew. An Ensign from Engineering, O'Brien, had accidentally shattered a set of vials in transportation. A large enough dose of the vaccine had entered his bloodstream to cause him to have some sort of seizure and collapse. A few of the landing party had come into skin contact with the vaccine, including Kirk himself.

Alright, so Jim did feel a little flustered and warmer than should be expected, but it was probably nothing serious... He just felt the need to exercise it off. He stood and strode across the bridge, tapping surfaces, his thighs. He honestly felt fine. Good, even. Though Kirk was sure Bones would want to hypospray him full of something nasty and cold once he got his hands on him, just in case.
