As usual, had a great time at Arcon this year. Couple of thoughts from an Alumni E-Board Member:

- Pete and I had a chat concerning alumni communication. Not sure if it's necessary, but perhaps there should be a list or delegate of some sort to maintain the lines of communication regarding alumns who might not check the LJ community all that often.
- Capture the Flag with Stuff: Okay. I'll be honest, I despise this game. I'm getting old, though, and I admit that screaming and yelling and running and jumping and crashing and thumping get on my nerves more easily than it used to. That being said: I think it's freaking AWESOME that this event is so well attended every year. There HAD to be at least 30 people playing over the weekend, that's awesome attendance for a single game. Kudo's to you! Seriously. I say that with no malice, keep this game going!

I'd like to make a single suggestion, though, If I might: It seemed like there was a lot of frustration going around before the game started as you explained the rules. People talking, not listening, interupting whatnot. I know it's simple, but you really should at least start the game off with an intro-session by making everyone sit down and the speaker stand up. I'm serious, I'll bet 90% of the problem is that it's easier to chat and talk when you can't see the speaker speaking. Also, the speaker doesn't have to work NEARLY as hard to project his voice over all the folks standing up. Also, I don't know if you had one, but a hand-out might be spiffy for players, too.

- Games: I fault nobody in particular for this problem, because we all lead busy lives and Pete explained to me that there was a LOT of issues with scheduling this year. But the pickings for games this year was slim.

REALLY slim.

I've seen the number of games run at Arcon decrease EVERY year since the con's inception. Again, nobody to blame here, really, but the way I see it is the only way for a person to get something to change is to change it themselves, so if you feel the same way I do about the pickings the past year or so, maybe you should come to arcon, pay your 3 day fee and run a game each day. Or at least 2? I've got plans to cook up a game or two to run next year.

- Awesome vendors this year, guys. Really awesome. It's good to see that we've gone from just 1 vendor to 4-5.

- I was SO impressed by the attendance to the boffer training session. Continue this. For realz.

- Perhaps a section of the STG budget should/could be set aside to send specific members to other con's so that a little bit of Word of Mouth could be spread around? I'm not sure how that would work... maybe it would pay for their fees or something... but I think a good way to get more attendance at YOUR event is to go to OTHER peoples... This was something we tried to do in the early Arcon days.

- I think a little blurb should be put in the pamphlet about the parking on campus, I know a LOT of folks were confused about where we could and couldn't park. Disregard if this IS covered in the pamphlet and I'm an idiot.

- Staff = Super friendly. This has ALWAYS been STG's strong point. Awesome job guys.

- This is a little asenine but someone might want to inform the building manager of the sheer number of thirsty volume of folks who will be using the vending machines so they can pass the word along to the vending companies. By the end of the weekend, the machines were out of pretty much everything. ;)

- Video gaming room. Every year this get's more and more awesome. Keep adding to this aspect of the Con, it really sets it apart as something different for gamers to do. Big kudo's here.

Anybody else have anything constructive to add? Leave a comment here or make another post. I think that's all I've got.
