Welcome to Closet Core Patterns
I’m Heather Lou, founder of Closet Core Patterns. I started sewing because I was in debt up to my eyeballs from shopping, I was bored and unfulfilled at work, and I was desperate for a creative outlet. I had no idea that learning how to sew would completely change the course of my life...
Over the years, we’ve grown from a one-woman show in my Montreal apartment to a thriving small team who are as obsessed with sewing, creating, and learning as I am.
Welcome to our collective obsession; I encourage you to explore our rich pattern catalogue and content library filled with sewing classes, videos and blog tutorials – our mission is to make sewing fun, inspiring, and accessible for everyone who wants to create their dream wardrobe.
We're so happy you're here! The world is a better place every time you sit down to sew.

Easy to sew. Classic results.
I’ve used other Breton top patterns but this one gives the most classic results. I have narrow shoulders and was concerned that my bra straps would show, but they do not. The instructions are very good, and I especially liked the wide neck facing and stitching template.

Really worthwhile class!
I have made a few jeans before but I wanted the Frank pattern and I have enjoyed other classes from Closet Core. I figured that most of the content would be familiar, but actually I learned many new things which I will use when I make the Frank jeans.
I especially enjoyed seeing all the versions of hand made and commercial jeans and I will surely use some of the ideas from all these different examples.
Don't assume that this class is only for beginners, there is plenty here for anyone who wants to make jeans which they will be happy to wear and say "I made them" with pride.

Worth every penny
Just finished my best pair of jeans ever! (off-white denim from Denimlab with 1% elastan)
Despite having made 2 pairs of Gingers previously the Learn How to Sew Jeans course really upped my game and made the whole process so much quicker and easier. Great tips and tricks plus it's a great listen. I'm going to go straight ahead with a second pair of Frank wide legged jeans using the Core Fabrics broadcloth - hope it works out as nice as my first pair. I think I'm lucky that the Closet Core "block" is a good fit for my body

Magnifique
Jenna shirt
A beautiful pattern. A small pleat in the back would elevate it but everything else was perfect detailing. Made it in a green and white stripe seersucker for my DIL and now friends are placing orders 😉
Easy to follow
Great pattern, however the rise is REALLY high, so if you like a shorter rise, make those adjustments.
What a winner! Thoroughly recommend the Cornelius Western Shirt pattern
The Cornelius Western Shirt pattern was my first from Closet Core, my first ever shirt, and my first collar with a stand. It was a beautiful sew and I'll make another. Great drafting, crystal clear instructions, with lots of inspiration from videos and blogs to personalise the shirt. I did a straight shirt - no darts, piping or in-your-face topstitching - to start with. Just a bit of grading between sizes around the belly. Fits perfectly and is very comfy to wear. Make #2 will be the party version -- with piping and hand embroidered yokes. The only issue that would make our lives easier is for less ease on the sleeve head please. Yes, we can use gathers, but why bother if you can do without? Love, love, love this pattern. Just the ease please!
Brilliant pattern
I made up my usual size with no adjustments and they fitted beautifully. I’ve made both view a and view b and love the pocket detail. Will be making more!
You’re doing great! i'll just have to be careful with the hard-to-see lines hahah...
I haven’t had the chance to cut the pattern yet, and currently I don’t have any fabric in stock that’s suitable for this project. and there aren’t many fabric options available here. I’ll be traveling to Indonesia soon, and I plan to explore fabric shops there. I’m hoping to find some interesting fabrics and sewing materials that I can grab.
Overall, when it comes to patterns, I think there is not much different when come to the measurements and construction details. I’m particularly interested in the piping details Cornelius added to the collar and armholes. It really gives the piece a more professional finish. I also want to give credit to Cornelius pocket design idea; it’s quite fun and playful, just like him. I think I might have an idea for another casual shirt project for leisure wear.
cheers,
Julie
Victory is mine!
I just finished my first pair of Frank jeans in combination with the jeans making online course. I’d made a few pair of jeans previously but I learned so many great tips from this course! I can’t say enough great things about Heather’s instructions. Plus, Heather is super fun and the videographer does an excellent job. The course is a BARGAIN. I look forward to more courses; trousers next!

The very best pattern
I have been sewing clothes for myself since I was a young teenager and I’m now 68, so I have used many different types and brands of patterns and I can say the Mitchell trouser pattern is the very best pattern I have ever used. It includes lots of measurements - both body and final garment, which makes it easier to choose the right size and therefore get a good fit. The instructions are clear and detailed including a link to a video for the fly zip. I will definitely be choosing Closet Core patterns in the future and recommending them to my sewist friends. Thank you for such a pleasurable and stress free experience.
Very clear instructions, great pattern!
This pattern was a joy to work with and the results are incredible. Tons of compliments!
I hope this inspires y’all to add more patterns for men.
