I am considering a Strunal or Eastman. What other brands are suitable? Of course I would not want a sound that is dark or too deep. Something light, clear and warm is preferable. Any ideas? I went to the violin store and saw a lot hanging above my head but as a beginner, I got intimidated...and couldn't bring any violinists with me. I'm renting a Strunal right now and it sounds alright to me. If anyone can tell me the difference between the sound of a strunal and eastman or give me more brands to think about, I'd very much appreciate it! :)
Hey fellow string lovers, you still out there?
I had been slacking off on my practicing a bit, but have been getting back into it lately. For my birthday, my husband had my guitar cleaned up and re-strung, and had the action lowered. It's like brand new!
How's everyone doing with their goals?

Hey everyone.
I am a beginner mandolin player, and I also play the fiddle. I find picking to be very easy, and chords as well. I just have a hard time remembering the chords. Is there any good website that anyone knows of where they show you all the chords. Sort of a guideline that I can print out to use while I am practicing at home. Thanks!

Ugh.
Quite a setback. I haven't been able to practice for a while.
I was re-stringing my banjo when the 5th string peg came out and wouldn't stay back in.
I'm working to fix it tonite, and I hope to be back up and running soon.
I refuse to let this interfere with The Year of the Banjo!
woooo!

Hi! I'm Joella.
One of my goals for 2006 is to improve my musical self, with a focus on accelerating the pace at which I'm learning how to play the guitar.
*I believe that photo is the first one taken of me with a guitar. It was taken 12/31/05, and was also the first time I picked up a guitar that wasn't mine at someone else's house and played it. Unfortunately, it was horribly out of tune, and I've not yet mastered tuning a guitar by ear.

Welcome to String Love.
I created this group in the hopes that it would help me keep my New Year's Resolution -- to learn to play the banjo.
My name is Mandy, and I've already been playing the banjo for a couple of years, but I'm not very good at all and I plan to change that.
I haven't had any professional lessons -- just a 'teach yourself' book and my own meager supply of discipline.
I've already told my friends and family that I plan to be skilled enough to play in front of others by my 30th birthday (which is Nov. 15th of this year).
With daily practice and pep talks from you good people, I sincerely believe I can accomplish this goal.
