Anthropologist studied both the aspect of folklore i.e. life and lore. Folklore became a popular medium in anthropological studies and using emic approach researchers try to find out the inner meaning of different aspects of culture. This paper focused on the major approaches of the study of Anthropology and Folklore. It is an attempt to classify different phases of Anthropology of Folklore studies in India and understand the historical development of Anthropology of Folklore studies in India. It is observed that, both theoretical and methodological approaches were changed with the time and new branches are emerged with different dimensions.

Perceiving 'disasters' as socially constructed phenomena, the stand of the current research is to explain the multiple facets of vulnerability, livelihood, and resilience issues in two rural settlements of the state of West Bengal, India.

Though, not in the label of disaster anthropology, initiated its passage of studying the adaptive strategies of the people in stressful and hazardous environment in 1950s, the discipline has come across multiple shifts in theoretical frames within. Contemporary research trends in anthropology claim an interdisciplinary attention to understand disaster as a process in the matrix of rapid and varied global change. At this juncture, the present authors have tried to focus on the shifts of anthropological approaches to disaster since its gestation in one hand, and, to indicate the contemporary trends of disaster research within the discipline of anthropology to support its claim of collaborative disaster researches on the other.

The findings of the study majorly highlighted the issues like-the perception of awareness about lock down, social distancing, the negative emotional experiences, the black marketing, the role of media and popular culture, and the alteration of meaning of livelihood in the period of emergency of COVID-19. The note further suggests to microscopic ethnographic study of such kind of epidemic and endemic disaster, so the strategies of resilience under the vulnerabilities can be managed through long term policy and action.

In this entry, we have tried to open a discussion on the issue of ‘self’ and ‘other’ dichotomy as a discourse and its changing dimensions with the theoretical developments in social sciences. As a qualitative research method Autoethnography utilizes data about self and context to develop an understanding of the connectivity between ‘self’ and ‘other’ within the same context. Writing Autoethnography and experimenting with textual fragmentation and formatting might capable us to extend our understandings of personal emotions/feelings which is primarily underlined in personal experiences. We further, intend to focus on how to incorporate researcher’s personal accounts into social research limiting our discussion to Autoethnography from the selected literatures.

The moral and ethical issues with its politicization and objectified imposition on the ethnographer are key concern of the present article. The authors are inclined to reflect the major and significant dimensions of ethical issues in ethnographic and/or social research along with its limitations, prejudices, contradictions and complexities in contemporary ethnographic practices in different academic discourses.

Folklore became a popular medium in anthropological studies and using emic approach researchers try to find out the inner meaning of different aspects of culture. This paper focused on the major approaches of the study of Anthropology and Folklore. It is an attempt to classify different phases of Anthropology of Folklore studies in India and understand the historical development of Anthropology of Folklore studies in India. It is observed that, both theoretical and methodological approaches were changed with the time and new branches are emerged with different dimensions.

The findings of the study majorly highlighted the issues like-the perception of awareness about lock down, social distancing, the negative emotional experiences, the black marketing, the role of media and popular culture, and the alteration of meaning of livelihood in the period of emergency of COVID-19. The note further suggests to microscopic ethnographic study of such kind of epidemic and endemic disaster, so the strategies of resilience under the vulnerabilities can be managed through long term policy and action.
