The reason of the discrepancies regarding the prevalence and consequences of faking may be the result of lack of clear operationalization of faking behavior. So the present research tested do two faking measures i.e. operalization (difference scores and social desirability scales) tend to yield similar conclusion regarding the Paulhus model of socially desirable responding. Study was conducted on dependent sample of participants in three different motivational conditions: respondents first filled out questionnaires in honest conditions, then had to present themselves like an ideal manager job-applicants (induced egoistic bias) and teacher job applicants (induced moralistic bias). The results showed that two measures of faking yield similar results.

Although researchers have made substantial efforts to provide the definition of the sexting there is no general consensus among them on the meaning of the sexting. In this review, we proposed a simple theoretical framework of sexting that seeks to refine the operationalization of sexting from previous research. Following a systematic review of sexting research from Sesar, Dodaj and Šimić (2018) which postulated a theoretical model of sexting, as well as previous researchers, we suggest that sexting behaviour has four forms: relational sexting, reactive sexting, forced sexting and violent sexting. We define this operationalization of sexting by focusing on the motivation for sexting and underlying sexting elements (such as the content of sexts etc.). This paper describes...

This chapter gives an overview of research so far into the effect of maltreatment in childhood on structural and functional changes to various parts of the nervous system. In people exposed to maltreatment in childhood numerous neurobiological changes have been found, primarily in the neuroendocrine systems activated by stress, which include the function of the autonomous nervous system, and the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis. The persistence of this behavior throughout adulthood has fascinated and puzzled many researchers. Scholars have argued that emotional tears serve an attachment function: Tears are thought to act as a social glue that binds individuals together and triggers social support intentions. Initial experimental studies supported this proposition across several methodologies, but these were typically conducted only across Western participants, resulting in limited generalizability. The present study examines this effect across 36 countries spanning all populated continents, providing the most comprehensive investigation of the social effects of tearful crying to-date. Next to testing possible mediating factors, we also examine a number of moderating factors, including the crier’s gender and group membership, the situational valence (positive or negative situations), the social context (in private or public settings), the perceived appropriateness of crying, and trait empathy of the observer. The current work can inform theories on crying across the social sciences.
